Poll: Who should be The Oklahoman's Student of the Week for April 7 - 10?
The Oklahoman's Student of the Week poll for the week of April 7 is now live.
The nominations for The Oklahoman's Student of the Week contest are in and polls are open to vote for the best of the best starting now.
The Oklahoman asked superintendents, principals, teachers, and guidance counselors from across the Oklahoma City area to participate in the Student of the Week program by sending nominations for their student.
Readers will now pick the best of the best in our poll. This week's poll has two candidates.
The Oklahoman's Student of the Week poll is at the bottom of the list of nominees. You can vote once per hour until it closes.
Last week's winner: Braxton Cyrus is The Oklahoman's Student of the Week.
Voting is open through noon, Thursday, April 3.
Nominations for next week's poll are also being accepted through 5 p.m. Thursday. To nominate a student, school faculty can email StudentOfTheWeek@
Here are the nominees for this week's poll:
Diego Cardenas, Mount St. Mary: Cardenas was recently selected for the 2025 All-State Academic Honorable Mention Team. This is just one accolade as a result of his exceptional dedication to academic excellence and his commitment to scholarly pursuits. He is an AP Scholar with Distinction, has a 4.504 weighted GPA, and is ranked in the top 10 of his class. He also serves as the Mount representative to the Rotary Club of Oklahoma City, is an eSports team member, and has been integral to the MSM Theater productions throughout high school. His achievements reflect his strong leadership skills, hard work, perseverance, and the high standards he set for himself. He is quick to help a classmate or teacher and is always cheerful and smiling. "Diego's innate curiosity makes him an exemplary student who consistently demonstrates a keen interest in exploring new ideas. His exceptional leadership skills enable him to effectively guide a group, ensuring they remain focused and productive," said teacher Chuck Zacher.
Kale Frost, John Marshall Enterprise High School: Frost is an honor student who demonstrates an impressive discipline in balancing not only his academics but his athletics as well. His sharp mind and problem solving skills are reflect in any task he takes on. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the varsity golf team where he excels both in the classroom and on the golf course. After high school, Kale plans to pursue a career in mechanical engineering a goal that aligns perfectly with his skills in problem solving.
