Indiana transfer Malik Reneau, a 6-9 forward, commits to UM: ‘I'm coming home'
Indiana transfer Malik Reneau, a 6-9 forward and Miami native, announced Wednesday that he is coming back home to play his final season at the University of Miami for new coach Jai Lucas.
He is the first player to publicly commit to the Hurricanes since Lucas took over. Other schools on his list were Auburn, Arkansas, Michigan and USC.
'I'm Coming Home. It's All About the U' Reneau posted on his Instagram and X accounts.
Reneau started 19 of 26 games as a junior for the Hoosiers and was named Honorable Mention All-Big 10.
He averaged a team-high 13.3 points per game along with 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists. Reneau shot 55 percent from the floor and 73 percent from the free throw line. He scored 1,013 points in three seasons with IU.
Reneau and the entire Hoosiers roster entered the transfer portal as coach Mike Woodson stepped down and was replaced by Darian Devries, who left West Virginia.
Reneau, the son of Melanie and Patrick Reneau, played high school basketball for Montverde Academy, where he helped lead his team to back-to-back GEICO High School Basketball National titles (2021 and 2022). He was ranked Top 30 in the 2022 recruiting class and committed to IU after decommitting from Florida when Mike White left for Georgia.
