Former Five-Star Duke Freshman Makes Unexpected NBA Draft Decision

Jon Scheyer and the Duke Blue Devils are fresh off a Final Four season led by an incredible freshman class. Duke courted some of the most talented freshmen in the country, such as Cooper Flagg, Khaman Maluach, Patrick Nnongba, Kon Knueppel and Isaiah Evans. Advertisement While all of them saw varied roles during their freshman season at Duke, several decided to enter their name in the 2025 NBA Draft pool. As expected, Flagg, Knueppel, and Maluach, all starters for the Blue Devils, declared for the NBA Draft. Ngongba announced that he would be returning for his sophomore season. Evans also previously announced his return, but a recent update on the NBA Draft filings reveals that the former blue-chip prospect entered his name as an early candidate for the draft, per Ryan Lommen and NBA Communications. As Lommen alluded to, Evans is likely testing the NBA Draft waters before making an official decision on whether he would like to return for his second season at Duke.
