Topeka organizations unite to run new homeless resource center at Let's Help
TOPEKA (KSNT) – Local organizations are uniting behind a new pilot program aimed at helping local homeless individuals get the help they need. The homeless resource center will open next month at Let's Help's new location at 645 Southwest MacVicar Avenue and serve as the home base for the All Hands On Deck campaign to end chronic homelessness in Topeka. Impact Avenues, a program that focuses on reducing student homelessness in Topeka and Shawnee County, will collaborate on the One-Stop Homeless Resource Center. MAP, which provides mobile access to medical, behavioral and social health services to homeless individuals in Topeka, will relocate to Let's Help for this pilot program, according to a press release from United Way of Kaw Valley (UWKV). The UWKV and Compassion Strategies will take the lead on the All Hands on Deck campaign. Restaurant opening at Lake Perry following renovations 'MAP expands the work that partnering agencies are doing to give at-risk adults and families a hand-up as they seek to move forward,' UWKV wrote in a press release.
