On the Zach Sang Show this week, Morris shared that when her 2019 album Girl was just weeks away from dropping, her mom pointed out something that made her "stomach drop" about the song "All My Favorite People."
Her mom admitted, "I kind of noticed the verse/melody sounds a little bit like '9 to 5,'" and when Morris realized she was right, she immediately sprang into action.
Reaching out to Parton, Morris said she wrote, "I'm so sorry, this was an honest mistake, I would love to give you a percentage of the writing credit as I would never do this intentionally. But it sounds close enough to me."
But rather than getting upset, not only did Parton send her a sweet response — she also refused to take a dime of her money.
She replied, "Oh my gosh honey, you're all good." Sounds like the Parton we all know and love!
Morris and Parton have worked together since then (including when Morris was part of a tribute in Parton's honor at the 2019 Grammys) so this story really does have a happy ending.
The world does not deserve Parton!
