Gulveer Singh bags gold in Men's 10,000m at Asian Athletics Championships

Singh won the first gold for India at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships (Image via X/@India_AllSports) Gulveer Singh clinched gold in the men's 10,000m race, while Servin Sebastian secured bronze in the 20km race walk event, helping India open their medal tally on the first day of the Asian Athletics Championships 2025 in Gumi, Republic of Korea, on Tuesday. Singh, the 26-year-old national record holder and Asian Games bronze-medallist, clocked 28:38.63 in his gold-winning performance. Coming on the back of bettering the national record in the 10000m run, he beat Japan's Mebuki Suzuki, who finished second with a time of 28:43.84, and Bahrain's Albert Kibichi Rop, who took bronze, clocking 28:46.82. Singh's current national record stands at 27:00.22, which he set earlier this year. 26-year-old Gulveer is India's national record holder in the men's 3000m, 5000m and 10000m events as well. China's Wang Zhaozhao won gold with 1:20:36.90, while Japan's Kento Yoshikawa claimed silver with 1:20:44.90. Sebastian's performance was close to his personal best of 1:21:23, which he achieved while winning gold at the Uttarakhand National Games in February this year.
