In four years, 2,055 farmers in Salem district received ₹31.28 crore in loans and subsidies through AED, says Minister
As many as 2,055 farmers in Salem district received ₹31.28 crore in loans and subsidies through the Agricultural Engineering Department (AED) in the last four years, said Tamil Nadu Minister for Tourism R. Rajendran on Wednesday.
The Minister, who inaugurated an Agricultural Machinery Maintenance Camp conducted at Attur Government Boys Higher Secondary School, told reporters later that manufacturing companies will explain at these camps the dos and don'ts in operating and maintaining agricultural machinery, identifying the repairs and tools for the machinery.
A demonstration was conducted for farmers and machinery owners. About 25 private companies displayed the agricultural machinery, tools, solar motor pumps, solar fences, and solar dryers, and a demo on drip irrigation was performed at the camp.
The Minister added that 1,076 farmers received ₹15.54 crore in subsidy under the purchase of Agricultural Machinery and Implements; 700 farmers received ₹7.07 crore in subsidy under the Kalaignar's All Village Integrated Agriculture Development Project; 135 farmers received ₹2.59 crore in subsidy under the Chief Minister's Scheme of Solar Powered Pumpsets; and maintenance works were carried out in 200 streams and seepage ponds at a cost of ₹41.36 lakh under the Integrated Watershed Water Collection Structures Maintenance Programme.
