Measles case confirmed this week in Northeastern Indiana
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — A case of measles in an unvaccinated minor has been confirmed in Allen County in the northeastern part of Indiana, about 160 miles from Chicago. The US has three measles-related deaths and hundreds of cases. Here's what to know The Allen County Health Department confirmed the case in a news release Monday, saying the patient is stable and recovering. No other information about the patient will be released due to state and federal privacy protections, the Allen County Health Department said. According to the Allen County Health Department, the confirmation comes as part of an ongoing investigation conducted in partnership with the Indiana Department of Health, and exposures to this lab-confirmed case are minimal. Neither Illinois or Indiana had any reported cases as of last week Thursday, per the CDC, but the case confirmed by the Allen County Health Department this week will make that at least one reported case from Indiana when the CDC releases its next set of data this week.
