A 33-year-old woman who was driving in her vehicle near Linton died Friday, May 16, when a tree fell on the car during a storm that produced an EF-2 tornado. Allison L. McCammon of Dugger died at the scene of the 7 p.m. incident near County Road 1500 West near Linton. Three children were taken to the hospital, one in critical condition, according to a Greene County Sheriff's Office news release. Dispatchers received a 911 call about a tree on top of a car. Deputies arrived and determined the driver of the 2006 Pontiac had died from injuries from the tree falling on the vehicle. In Monroe County no one died or was seriously hurt during the severe weather that spawned an EF-2 tornado and left swaths of damage in western and southern Monroe County May 16. 'We also are aware of five storm-related non-severe injuries and one 96-year-old male sustained a head injury and was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital via ambulance. His injury was reported as non-life threatening,' a news release from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said. But there was widespread property damage and destruction.
