GARNER, N.C. (WNCN) – Police are investigating after officers said a woman and a 1-year-old girl were kidnapped overnight from a home in Garner on Tuesday. According to the Garner Police Department, the kidnapping occurred on the 500 block of Buck Branch Drive. Police said two men and one woman wearing masks and armed with guns broke into the home and demanded $1 million from one of the victims. When he refused, the suspects grabbed his daughter and wife, identified as Alondra Michelle Benitez-De Jesus, while restraining the husband with tape. The suspects' vehicle was a black or dark colored Nissan Altima. An Amber Alert has been issued for Benitez-De Jesus as well as the daughter, identified as 13-month-old Grecia Salome Alejandro-Benitez, Garner police said. The child is described as approximately 2 feet tall and weighing 26 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink pajama shirt and red and yellow striped pajama pants. 'Please be patient,' according to a Tuesday news release from the Garner Police Department. 'This is an evolving situation, and information is limited.' Grecia Salome Alejandro-Benitez and her mother Alondra Michelle Benitez-De Jesus were kidnapped after three masked suspects carrying guns broke into their Garner, North Carolina, home Tuesday morning, multiple local outlets including WRAL and WYFF4 reported. The suspects — two men and one woman — reportedly demanded $1 million from the child's father, Eliuth Alejandro Martinez. When he did not comply, they restrained him with tape and took the child and mother, per reports. The Garner Police Department did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for comment Tuesday.
