Eight bootleggers booked under GJCTOC in Vadodara
Vadodara: Warasia police have booked eight members of a bootlegging gang under the Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime (GJCTOC) Act. According to police, the accused are habitual offenders involved in crimes ranging from liquor smuggling and extortion to forgery and Arms Act violations.
The gang is allegedly led by Alpesh alias Sindhi Vadhwani, a well-known bootlegger with links to several other criminals. "Of the eight, three have been arrested, two are already in jail, and one is suffering from serious health issues. We are currently trying to track down Vadhwani and Dharmesh Sachdev alias Golu," said CB Tandel, police inspector of the Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB).
This is the fourth gang in the city to be booked under the GJCTOC Act, following action against the Bicchu gang, Qasam Ala gang, and the Sikligar gang.
"The gang, with Sindhi as a key figure, used the proceeds from bootlegging to fund other criminal activities," Tandel added.
