Woman dies after falling while backcountry skiing near Moraine Lake, Alta.: RCMP
An RCMP vehicle is seen in this file photo. A woman died after falling a 'considerable distance' while backcountry skiing in the Rockies on Tuesday. In a news release, Lake Louise RCMP said the incident occurred near Moraine Lake, Alta., around 7 a.m. The skier was extracted from the area by longline via Alpine Helicopters. STARS also responded to the scene, but the woman, a 34-year-old from Lake Louise, was pronounced dead. Moraine Lake is located approximately 15 kilometres south of Lake Louise.
