OnlyFans faces ban in Sweden as new law targets live adult content

OnlyFans faces ban in Sweden as new law targets live adult content Show Caption Hide Caption Amanda Bynes has joined OnlyFans Former Nickeldeon star Amanda Bynes has joined OnlyFans but has insisted that she won't be posting "any sleazy" content. Bang Showbiz Sweden's parliament on Tuesday passed a new law that prohibits the purchase of sexual acts online, placing restrictions on platforms such as OnlyFans. Under the new law, it will be illegal to offer compensation to another person to perform a sexual act remotely online. The law does, however, allow users to watch and pay for pre-recorded sexual material or live streams that they have not requested. In case you missed it: Startup run by OnlyFans founder submitted late-stage bid to buy TikTok "This is about digitalized prostitution, where the boundaries between pornography and human trafficking are blurred but where exploitation and abuse are present," TT news agency quoted Social Democrat lawmaker Sanna Backeskog saying during the parliamentary debate over the law. OnlyFans is an adults-only website that allows anyone from celebrities and porn stars to aspiring influencers to sell sexually explicit videos of themselves. Created in 2016, it has hundreds of millions of users, with top earners making millions of dollars a year. The platform is restricted or banned in some countries, including Turkey. A spokeswoman for OnlyFans said the company "complies with all laws and regulations in the jurisdictions in which it operates." Last month, Amanda surprised her fans by announcing that she had launched her very own OnlyFans page. Fans will have to fork over $50 per month if they wish to have access to Amanda's OnlyFans. Since ditching Hollywood in 2010, Amanda has set her sights on a career in fashion and art. In December 2024, Amanda hosted a pop-up art show that was attended by various celebrities including Miley Cyrus' younger sister, Noah Cyrus. Around that time, an insider close to the former child star revealed to that pursuing a career in art is a 'tremendous step forward' for Amanda. In 2015, Amanda told Paper Magazine that she had 'definitely abused Adderall,' a popular drug to treat ADHD, in hopes of using its stimulant and appetite suppression effects to help her maintain a desired weight.
