15 teachers dismissed in Buxar over selection irregularities
Buxar: Education department on Friday dismissed 15 teachers in Buxar who were appointed through the teachers' recruitment examination (TRE), citing serious irregularities in their selection.
The action was taken by district education officer, Amarendra Kumar Pandey.
According to official sources, 14 of the dismissed teachers are residents of Uttar Pradesh (UP), who fraudulently claimed the benefits of reservation meant exclusively for candidates with domicile of Bihar. In addition to this, these teachers secured less than the required 60% marks in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), making them ineligible under the general category.
One more teacher was dismissed for not studying Urdu at the Intermediate level, despite being appointed as an Urdu teacher.
The DEO cited official correspondence from the director of secondary education (letter no. 1341; May 15, 2024) and deputy director (letter no. 1507; July 15, 2024), which stated that reservation benefits are not to be extended to non-residents of Bihar. Based on these directives, the appointments were reviewed and subsequently invalidated.

Prior to their dismissal, all teachers were issued notices seeking clarifications. However, the responses were found to be unsatisfactory, prompting the department to take action, said Buxar DEO, adding, "This move underscores the department's focus on transparency and merit-based recruitment."
