Church staff member held under Pocso for sexual abuse of 3 minor boys in Chennai
An assistant to a Church Father in Chennai's Ambattur area has been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for alleged sexual assault involving three minor accused, identified as Yesudas, is said to have engaged in sexual activities with the three teenage boys over a period of five months. Police said the boys, who are cousins, regularly visited the church where the accused worked as an case came to light when the father of one of the boys, disturbed by changes in his son's behaviour, secretly followed him. He was shocked to discover that his son was accompanying Yesudas to an OYO hotel room. The parent then approached the Church Father with his concerns, but was reportedly told to be cautious and received little assistance.
Unconvinced by the response, the boy's father filed a complaint with the Ambattur Police. Following preliminary inquiry, police arrested Yesudas and booked him under various sections of the POCSO Act, including BNS section 3A, 3D and 4(1), which deal with penetrative sexual assault on sources told India Today that the accused made the boys watch pornographic videos before the assaults.
