'Costco salad left me rinsing out mouth after I found a cockroach'

Amberleigh Webb, 23, was deeply unimpressed when, as she was eating her chicken Caesar salad from Costco in Chingford, she claims to have found a dead bug amongst it A 'disgusted' woman was left in tears and feeling ill when she bit into a salad from Costco - and claims she found a dead cockroach hidden within. Amberleigh Webb, 23, had finished shopping at the Costco, in Chingford, East London, with partner Shannon Lucas, 24, when they bought a salad each. The pair were tucking into their lunches in the store's car park when Amberleigh spotted something odd in her £5 chicken Caesar. Looking a little closer, she said she realised it was a dead bug - which made her feel sick to her stomach and complain back at the store. ‌ Amberleigh said: 'I felt so violated. I actually cried because I was so disgusted. It was moments after leaving the store and when I went in for my third bite, I saw the bug and screamed. I was so shocked, I couldn't believe I saw a bug. ‌ "It looked like a cockroach but had wings on it. I felt so sick and I had to get water to wash my mouth with. 'I was very close to throwing up due to the disgust. We looked it up and we believe it's a German cockroach.' Amberleigh says the incident has put her off shopping at Costco for life. She added: "It's put me off eating any food from there. I will never buy any food from Costco again." ‌ Costco has been approached for comment by the Mirror. Last year a shopper was shocked when he found a huge locust from his weekly shop sat inside his fridge. ‌ Lee Westacott, 39, believed the locust was lurking in the bag of celery he bought and made its escape after the bag had been opened. He said: " I was a bit shocked at first but my son was amazed with it. It was probably about three inches - it's quite a big bug. It's like a jacked-up grasshopper. 'We bought some celery and some other bits of veg so I'm guessing it's come out of one of those packets. I have contacted [ Aldi ] and they've sent me an email back saying they'll give me a £5 goodwill voucher to use for a future shop. "Initially, I didn't know if it had been all over the food in the fridge." An Aldi spokesperson said: "While it has not been possible to establish whether this insect came from an Aldi product, such a rare finding can occasionally occur.'

Warning over chicken salad sold by major supermarket after woman finds COCKROACH

A repulsed woman has claimed she found a dead cockroach lurking inside her Costco salad, leaving her feeling nauseous. Amberleigh Webb from east London said she was treating herself to a chicken Caesar salad when she allegedly made the gruesome discovery. After tucking into her meal in April, the 23-year-old said she saw the bug and 'screamed'. The cockroach looked like it had wings and she immediately 'felt so sick', running to the bathroom to immediately rinse her mouth out with water. In stomach-churning images posted on social media, the revolting bug is also seen hidden on the side of the salad. Ms Webb, who works in events, claimed she then made a complaint to the Costco branch in Chingford, East London, and was given a full refund of £5. Recalling the horrifying moment she made the discovery, she said: 'It was moments after leaving the store and when I went in for my third bite, I saw the bug and screamed. 'I was so shocked couldn't believe I saw a bug. It looked like a cockroach but had wings on it. 'I felt so sick and I had to get water to wash my mouth with. I was very close to throwing up due to the disgust. The cockroach looked like it had wings and she immediately 'felt so sick', running to the bathroom to immediately rinse her mouth out with water 'I felt so violated. I actually cried because I was so disgusted. We looked it up and we believe it's a German cockroach.' She added: 'It's put me off eating any food from there. I will never buy any food from Costco again.' MailOnline has approached Costco for comment. But it is not the first time the warehouse supermarket has come under fire with worm allegedly even found in their fish. Last year, a Costco shopper living in Oregon in the US, said she was shocked to find a roundworm in one of her newly purchased eggs. The buyer, who's known as @xiomis95 on TikTok, posted a video showing the worm wriggling in the bowl of freshly cracked eggs. Another woman from Maryland, also claimed she once found a live worm in cod fish she bought from Costco. Emily Randolph shared the video to her Facebook page that showed the live worm climbing up the inside the package of cod underneath the protective cellophane wrapping. Brits suffer around 2.4million cases of food poisoning every year, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), costing the UK up to £9 billion each year. In the US, meanwhile, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates around 48million fall sick with food poisoning annually. Of these 128,000 are hospitalized. It also proves fatal in around 3,000 cases.
