Iraq, AGMS explore medical city project in Baghdad

Baghdad ( – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani recently held a meeting with Dr. Aizen Marrogi, founder and CEO of American Global Medical Services (AGMS), to discuss new avenues of cooperation in the healthcare sector. Central to the talks was AGMS's proposal to establish a comprehensive medical city in Baghdad — a project poised to significantly enhance the country's medical infrastructure. The proposed development includes a 200-bed cancer treatment center, a pharmaceutical production plant, a nursing college, and a dedicated training school. The facility will employ over 200 medical professionals, administrators, and support staff, while also generating more than 1,500 local job opportunities. Notably, AGMS has committed to fully funding the ambitious project. During the meeting, Al-Sudani ordered the formal allocation of 60 dunams of land for the project within Al-Rasheed Camp. The initiative was also positioned as a meaningful step toward advancing the Iraqi-U.S. Strategic Framework Agreement, with a particular emphasis on strengthening healthcare collaboration between the two nations. Dr. Marrogi, a pathologist who graduated from the University of Baghdad Medical School, has been practicing in Virginia for over 20 years.
