Varsity student fined for molesting American woman in LRT train

KUALA LUMPUR : A private university student has been fined RM5,000, or two months' jail in default, for molesting a female American pathologist in an LRT train earlier this year.
Foreign national Rahman Moshiur, 28, pleaded guilty to the charge of using criminal force on the 26-year-old woman with the intent to outrage her modesty in the LRT train heading from the Universiti station to the Bangsar station at 9am on Jan 9.
The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years' jail, a fine, whipping or any two of the punishments, upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Nur Farhana Poad appeared for the prosecution while the accused was unrepresented in the hearing before magistrate S Mageswary.
