GENEVA, May 3: The American Surgical Association (ASA) has announced the selection of Dr. Waddah Al-Refaie to participate in the 2025 scientific exchange program with the European Surgical Association (ESA). This recognition was highlighted during the 31st Annual ESA Meeting held in Geneva, Switzerland, from May 2 to 3, 2025. Dr. Al-Refaie, Head of the Surgery Department at Creighton University and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), is the first Kuwaiti, Gulf, and Arab surgeon to receive this prestigious honor. KUWAIT CITY, May 2: The American Surgical Association has selected Dr. Waddah Al-Rifai, a prominent Kuwaiti physician and Chair of the Department of Surgery at Creighton University, to participate in the 2025 Scientific Exchange Program with the European Surgical Association. Dr. Al-Rifai is the first surgeon from Kuwait, the Gulf region, and the Arab world to receive this distinction.
