New comedy play set to open at The Glowyr Theatre Ammanford
"Where There's A Will There's A Way!", written and directed by Dave Jenkins, revolves around Petunia Reynolds's family, who are eager to inherit part of her £2 million fortune. The family members resort to hilarious deceptions, each pretending to be someone they're not, including a nun, a retired astronaut, an army veteran, a ballet dancer, a rock star, and a world traveller. The audience is left wondering who will win Petunia's favour and her wealth. Ammanford Community Theatre promises this world premiere will be their funniest show yet. The show will run at The Glowyr Theatre on June 12, 13, and 14 at 7.30pm, and is suitable for ages 12 and above. Tickets are priced at £10. Tickets can be purchased online, at Ammanford Library, or via the ticket office by calling 0345 2263510.

Scheme gives Ysgol Dyffryn Aman pupils work experience
The 'Real World of Learning Programme' is set to engage more than 250 students from Ysgol Dyffryn Aman over the course of the year. Funded by the Regional Skills & Learning Partnership's Skills and Talent Programme, the initiative is designed to help year 10 pupils develop skills and talents needed for future careers. The pilot, which began in September 2024 and will continue into September 2025, aims to connect students' interests, aptitudes, and skills with local job prospects. During the six-week programme, pupils gain work experience and tackle real-life challenges within various council departments, including Manor Road Day Centre, Amman Valley Leisure Centre, Trading Standards, and Ammanford Library, as well as with local businesses. Four students at Amman Valley Leisure Centre created platforms to engage the centre's younger audience, while another four at Ammanford Library worked on initiatives to attract teenagers and young adults to the library. 15-year-old Jorja Morgan said: "I really enjoyed coming up with ideas and designing an outdoor reading area. "I've been learning some new photography skills and used equipment in the makerspace room." Molly Vaughan Jones, also 15, added: "I liked designing the logo and taking photographs." Carmarthenshire County Council's cabinet member for education and Welsh language, Councillor Glynog Davies, said: "Real-world work experience opens doors for young people, giving them a taste of different careers. "We're excited to support programmes that offer hands-on learning, giving young people the confidence to make informed decisions about their future." The council is encouraging students or anyone aged 14 (year 10 in school) or older to apply for unpaid work placements with the authority during National Work Experience Week. More information about work experience opportunities at the council and an application form can be found on the council's website.
