Learn to stay safe in emergencies during Family Safety Day at The Fire Museum of Maryland
The Fire Museum of Maryland, located in Lutherville, hosted a Family Safety Day on Saturday to give families the tools and knowledge to stay safe in emergencies.
The museum combined safety education and interactive activities for a day intertwined with fun and learning.
"It's really important to be prepared for things...a fire, a hurricane, a tree that could fall on your roof, a flood, a snowstorm that knocks out your power. There are so many things to think about and here is where we will give you the information you need to be prepared," Amy Landsman, Media Relations Director at The Fire Museum of Maryland said.
Family Safety Day is all about staying prepared for the unexpected, but in a way, that's engaging and fun for all ages.
"I'm always amazed by the new things that I'm learning here, and he just loves seeing all the fire trucks engines, the machinery," Will Hauck, a parent said.
With organizations like Johns Hopkins, The Office of the State Fire Marshal, and the Baltimore County Fire Department on hand, there's no shortage of expert advice.
"It brings so many people into the museum to learn about the history. We believe that safety, and learning about safety, is such an important part of our mission," said Landsman.
The best part is that kids and parents alike can experience hands-on activities, giveaways, and even playtime in the museum's discovery room.
"It's a really great interactive place for him to come and enjoy the things that he loves up close," Hauck told WJZ Reporter Miana Massey.
From fire safety tips to interactive activities, attendees walked away better prepared for emergencies.
However, if you missed it, The Fire Museum of Maryland hosts events like this all throughout the year.
