Local farmers market dedicated to first responders

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — People had the chance to interact with emergency personnel Sunday, all while shopping from local vendors. Sunshine Golden Acre semi-monthly farmers market was back, and this week was dedicated to first responders. Police, firefighters and a K9 search team were at the market interacting with the crowds. Sunshine Golden Acres owner Amy Phillips invited first responders to be part of the market because they've played a big role in her life. Her mom was a police dispatcher for the City of Warren, and her brother-in-law was a Lordstown police officer. 'I thought it would be nice to do a first responders market where people could come out and shop the vendors, and thank their state highway patrol, their police officers, the firetrucks here,' said Amy Phillips, owner of Sunshine Golden Acrews Farmers Market & Soap Co. The farmer's markets are on the first and third Sunday of each month. The next one is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 15. That market will feature a hot dog-eating contest. Farmers market back for the season in Warren

WARREN TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – A tell-tale sign of spring, farmers markets are starting back up again. Sunday was the first farmers market of the season at Sunshine Golden Acres in Warren Township. This is its second year of hosting the semi-monthly markets on Mahoning Avenue NW. This week was its Mother's Day market — the only one it'll have before the holiday next weekend. About 30 different local vendors were there selling baked goods, meat, flowers, candles and more. 'It's great to keep the money here in the community, it's great to shop local, connect the community with the farmers. It's just great to support local,' said Amy Phillips, owner of Sunshine Golden Acres Farm Market & Soap Co. The Sunshine Golden Acres store is open year-round. The farmers markets are on the first and third Sundays of each month, May through October, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
