20 Acre 'Sindoor Van' To Honour Armed Forces In Gujarat
Bhuj: In a tribute to the Indian Armed Forces and the historic 'Operation Sindoor', the Gujarat government has announced the creation of a themed forest -- Sindoor Van -- on the outskirts of Bhuj. The project will be developed on 20 acres of forest department land near Mirzapur along the Bhuj-Mandvi road, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently addressed a public gathering. In response to the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, including 25 Indians and one Nepali national, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor on May 7. This precision military operation targeted nine high-value terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), including the headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Bahawalpur. The operation was meticulously planned to avoid civilian casualties and damage to non-military infrastructure. Announcing the project, Kutch District Collector Anand Patel said, 'Sindoor Van will be planted with 35 species of native plants, including the symbolic Sindoor tree, and developed as a theme-based tribute to the courage and sacrifice of India's defence forces.' The project aims to serve as a living memorial to the resilience and patriotism demonstrated during Operation Sindoor, and to honour the role of Kutch residents, particularly those from Madhapar, who played a vital part in repairing the Bhuj airbase during the 1971 India-Pakistan War. On the night of December 8, 1971, the Indian Air Force (IAF) airstrip in Bhuj was attacked by Pakistani jets. The runway was damaged in eight places and rendered useless. That was when 300 courageous women from Madhapar, a village 5 km from Bhuj, decided to step out. In just 72 hours, the women rebuilt the airfield, and IAF fighter planes launched counterattacks, shocking Pakistanis. These brave citizens were felicitated during a recent event, where they also gifted Sindoor saplings to the Prime Minister. In a symbolic gesture, PM Modi said the Sindoor plant would be nurtured at the Prime Minister's residence and eventually grow into a large banyan tree. Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Sandeep Kumar added, 'Wherever a border outpost (BOP) stands facing our defence lines, the Sindoor trees will be planted to pay homage to our troops. This forest will be a permanent salute to their service.'

Gujarat to build Sindoor Memorial Park near Indo-Pak border: Report
The Gujarat government is reportedly planning to establish a memorial park near the India–Pakistan border in Kutch district to commemorate Operation Sindoor. Operation Sindoor was launched on 7 May as a military response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, which claimed 26 lives. The planned memorial, named Sindoor Van, will pay tribute to the Indian armed forces and the collective spirit demonstrated by citizens during the operation. Van kavach to span eight hectares of forest land According to a report by The Indian Express, the park will feature a dense forest section, to be known as a van kavach, and is expected to be completed within a year. Citing unnamed officials, the report stated that groundwork for the memorial has already commenced. The van kavach will extend across approximately eight hectares of forest land in Mirzapar, along the Bhuj–Mandvi road. 'In memory of the unity exhibited by society, Army, Air Force, BSF and other forces during Operation Sindoor, the Sindoor Van — a memorial park — is being planned by the forest department,' said Kutch Collector Anand Patel, as quoted by the newspaper. Park to feature murals and tributes to armed forces A section of the park will be dedicated to the victims of the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir. The memorial will also include themed zones with murals honouring the BSF, Army, Navy and Air Force, according to Sandeep Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forests, Kutch Circle. Interestingly, the proposed van kavach site includes the location where Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting during his first visit to Gujarat following Operation Sindoor. Speaking on May 26, which also marked 11 years of his premiership, Modi said the military response to Pahalgam reflected India's resilience and values. Reflecting on the strike on terror camps in Pakistan, Modi stated, '...our valiant soldiers achieved a feat unseen by the world in decades. We pinpointed and confirmed the locations of nine major terrorist camps across the border.' He added that Indian forces destroyed the camps 'in just 22 minutes,' forcing Pakistan into a humiliating retreat. Operation Sindoor triggered a series of cross-border strikes and retaliations. Hostilities between India and Pakistan eventually subsided after both sides reached an understanding to cease military action on May 10.

Gujarat plans Operation Sindoor memorial park near India-Pakistan border in Kutch: Report
The Gujarat government is reportedly planning to build a memorial park dedicated to Operation Sindoor near the India-Pakistan border in Kutch district. Operation Sindoor, India's military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed, was launched on May 7. The park, which to be called 'Sindoor Van', will be built as a mark of respect for the Indian defence forces and the unity displayed by the citizens during the operation. The memorial, which will include a high-density forest, or a 'van kavach', is likely to be completed in a year's time, The Indian Express reported on Tuesday, citing unnamed officials, who added that the initial work on the ground had already commenced. The 'van kavach' is expected to be spread over eight hectares and will come up on the land belonging to Mirzapar's forest department, on the Bhuj-Mandvi road, the report added. 'In memory of the unity exhibited by society, Army, Air Force, BSF and other forces during Operation Sindoor, the Sindoor Van — a memorial park — is being planned by the forest department," the newspaper quoted Kutch collector Anand Patel as saying. The 'Sindoor Van' will also include a part specially dedicated to the victims of the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam. Apart from the eight-hectare high-density plantation, murals will be built in the 'theme-based memorial park' in different sections for the BSF, Army, Navy, and Air Force, the report quoted Sandeep Kumar, chief conservator of forests, Kutch Circle, as saying. The area demarcated for the 'van kavach' also notably includes the land where Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a public meeting during his first visit to Gujarat post Operation Sindoor. During his address in his home state on May 26, which also marked 11 years since he took office as the PM, Modi had highlighted that the military response to Pahalgam was also an expression of Indian values and spirit Speaking on the strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan, Modi said, '...our valiant soldiers achieved a feat unseen by the world in decades. We pinpointed and confirmed the locations of nine major terrorist camps across the border.' He said that the Indian strikes had resulted in the terror bases being reduced to rubble in just 22 minutes, adding that the military action had compelled Pakistan to retreat in humiliation. The strikes under Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the Pahalgam attack, led to a series of attacks and counter-attacks between India and Pakistan, with hostilities between both countries ending on May 10 after a ceasefire understanding.

Gujarat Govt working on Operation Sindoor memorial park near Pakistan border: Report
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Gujarat is working on a memorial park dedicated to Operation Sindoor — India's precision strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir after the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack. The memorial park – a mark of respect for the defence forces – coming up in Kutch district on the India-Pakistan border – will be called 'Sindoor Van' (forest), according to a report in The Indian Express. The Kutch district of Gujarat was most affected by attacks from Pakistan. The memorial is expected to be completed in about a year and a half, and the work has already begun on the ground, the report quoted officials. 'In memory of the unity exhibited by society, Army, Air Force, BSF and other forces during Operation Sindoor, the Sindoor Van — a memorial park — is being planned by the forest department,' Kutch Collector Anand Patel told The Indian Express. India carried out precision strikes under Operation Sindoor on nine terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, on 7 May in response to the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, mostly tourists in Jammu and Kashmir. Following the Indian action, Pakistan attempted to attack Indian military bases on 8, 9 and 10 May. The Pakistani attempts were strongly responded to by the Indian side by inflicting heavy damages to a number of key Pakistani military installations including air bases, air defence systems, command and control centres and radar sites. In memory of the unity exhibited by society, Army, Air Force, BSF and other forces during Operation Sindoor, the Sindoor Van — a memorial park — is being planned by the forest department. The memorial park will spread over eight hectares of land owned by the state forest department in Mirzapar on the Bhuj-Mandvi road. The land includes the part where Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a public meeting on 26 May during his first visit to Gujarat after Operation Sindoor. The park will also have an area dedicated to the victims of the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack. Three of the 26 Pahalgam victims were from Gujarat.
