Lokesh threatens legal action on YSRCP post on Talliki Vandanam, seeks apology
Human Resources Development (HRD) Minister Nara Lokesh has asserted that the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders would have to face legal consequences if the party failed to prove its allegations that out of ₹13,000 given under the Talliki Vandanam scheme, ₹2,000 went into his personal account.
''Either they have to delete the message posted on social media or prove their allegations. Else, law will take its course and they will face consequences,'' he said.
Addressing a press conference at Vundavalli near here on Friday, Mr. Lokesh said that the YSRCP leaders must apologise and withdraw their statements. ''If they don't, I will take legal action. I will not tolerate such baseless allegations anymore. Those making false accusations will have to pay the price.'
Speaking about the Mega DSC, he said, the process would be completed by July and newly recruited teachers would be in schools by September. Teacher transfers will be completed by Monday. The government is taking steps to increase student enrolment in government schools, he said.
Fee regulation
To a question on fee regulation in private schools, Mr. Lokesh said, 'It's a free market. I believe in it.' The government has improved the infrastructure in government schools. They (parents) can admit their children in government schools, he said.
The government is prepared to extend the benefits of the Talliki Vandanam scheme to every eligible mother. While the previous government gave the benefits to only 42 lakh beneficiaries under Amma Vodi, the current coalition government is implementing the scheme for 67.27 lakh students. We are ready to include more eligible beneficiaries. 'We appeal to all parents to enrol their children in government schools,' he said.
The previous government caused huge destruction to the education sector in the name of fee regulation. ''The system has collapsed. There are no enrolments in postgraduate courses. Patents have come down. The government is trying to put back the education system on track,'' he said.
The government's goal is to improve quality education in public institutions and it has introduced excellent reforms with consensus. 'Our 'Andhra Model Education' will become a role model for all other States in the country,' he said.
