9 charged in 2021 fatal crash, shooting on I-385 in Greenville Co.
MAULDIN, S.C. (WSPA) – Nine individuals have been charged in connection with a 2021 crash and shooting incident on I-385 that led to the death of two brothers and multiple injuries.
7NEWS previously reported that Rashon Javarous Irby, 29, and Andrekus Davarous Irby, 31, both of Laurens, died at the scene on I-385 near Old Stage Road during the early morning hours of May 23, 2021.
On the day of the incident, it was reported that the Irby brothers were passengers in a white Chevrolet Impala heading north on I-385 when an altercation occurred with multiple other vehicles where gunshots were fired leading to a vehicle crash.
The Impala crashed into the barrier on I-385, ejecting the two victims from the car. Officers said the crime scene spanned more than a half-mile long and was littered with weapons, shell casings, bullet fragments and other evidence.
The Mauldin Police Department reopened the investigation in 2024.
After a months-long investigation, police were able to work with the Solicitor's Office and several other agencies to make charges in the incident. The following suspects have been charged in connection with the incident:

Officers said seven suspects are currently being held at the Greenville County Detention Center, and two will be extradited from other states.
MPD will hold a press conference to discuss the charges on Friday at 4:30 p.m. in the courtroom at City Hall at 5 East Butler Road.
The case has been turned over to the Solicitor's Office.
