Suspect in Oneida McDonald's crash accused of fleeing Ohio police previously
CELINA, Ohio (WATE) — The man who law enforcement say crashed into a McDonald's in Oneida, Tennessee also allegedly got into a traffic accident in Ohio two weeks before after crossing over to the wrong side of the road. Andrew A. Leininger, 40, crashed into a McDonald's off Highway 27 while fleeing police on Wednesday, according to an arrest warrant. However, according to the Darke County Sheriff's Office in Ohio, this wasn't his first time involved in a pursuit. Deputies went to the area and were told that Leininger had been driving north on US-127 when he sideswiped a trailer, crossed into the southbound lanes and hit another truck. Leininger then ran away from the scene towards St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery, DCSO said. Officers from the Greenville Police Department saw him and chased him, finally overtaking him in the cemetery. One of the officers had to climb over a fence and fell, injuring his shoulder. The officers took Leininger, who was uninjured, into custody for suspicion of being under the influence of drugs. He was charged with obstructing official business, and DCSO said other charges will be filed later. Law enforcement also suspected drugs may have been involved in the Oneida crash where they found marijuana in his car, the arrest report says. He was charged with driving under the influence. ONEIDA, Tenn. (WATE) — A suspect's truck crashed into a McDonald's in Oneida after a police pursuit Wednesday morning, law enforcement said. According to the arrest warrant, Andrew A. Leininger, 40, fled from law enforcement. It says he 'drove at extreme speeds,' ran a red light, left the road and was involved in a crash on 3rd Avenue and Highway 27. He then fled the scene of the crash and had a second crash into a McDonald's on Alberta Street off Highway 27, damaging the building, documents say. Law enforcement found a pill bottle containing marijuana and a small glass pipe in his car, they report. Law enforcement arrested him and he was booked in to the Scott County Jail.
