'One-in-a-million' father-of-three, 56, died after his truck hit 120,000 volt cables, inquest told
A father-of-three was electrocuted to death at a farm when his truck hit 120,000-volt overhead cables, an inquest heard. Andrew Winston Lloyd, 56, was delivering hardcore for the base of a shed when the bucket of his truck hit the electric cables. An inquest heard Mr Lloyd, known as Andy, was electrocuted as he stood on the metal step climbing down from his cab. Emergency services were called but Mr Lloyd, who ran a family business, was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene on May 1. The tragedy took place at Tan y Dderwen Farm in Betws-yn-Rhos, Conwy, North Wales, when he hit the 120,000-volt overhead cables. Mr Lloyd, of nearby Llanelian, was described as 'a hard working, family man' and 'one-in-a-million' in tributes by friends. One said: 'What can I say about Andy except he was one in a million. We will never forget you mate. Such a tragic loss.' Another added: 'Andy was clearly loved by everyone who knew him and will be so very missed.' A fundraiser has been launched following his death to raise funds for Air Ambulance Wales in Mr Lloyd's memory. The provisional cause of death given was electrocution at the inquest in Ruthin. A coroner said an investigation has been launched by the Health and Safety Executive and adjourned the inquest for a date to be fixed.
