Minnesota Vikings land different QB in 2011 NFL re-draft from PFF
Minnesota Vikings land different QB in 2011 NFL re-draft from PFF PFF has been running a summer series for several weeks now, and they have gone back and re-drafted several classes from the NFL Draft. Next up for them is the 2011 NFL Draft, which produced several Hall of Famers and will be remembered as one of the best classes of this generation. Nine players were selected to Pro Bowls or All-Pros at the top of the 2011 NFL Draft before the Vikings had a chance to make their selection. They ended up drafting Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder, who played four years with the team before moving on. PFF decided to give the Vikings Andy Dalton as the next quarterback after him to be selected. The TCU Horned Frogs quarterback lasted until round two of the draft, and he remains in the NFL to this day. While he has jumped around the NFL in recent years, he led the Bengals to playoffs several times and helped turn the franchise around after years of mediocrity. While the results with the Vikings could be projected, he would have been a significant upgrade from what Ponder was for them.

Andy Dalton owns low-percentage stake in Leeds United of the Premier League
Panthers backup quarterback Andy Dalton bought a 'very, very, very, very low percentage' stake in Leeds United. On Monday, Leeds earned promotion back to the Premier League with a 6-0 win over Stoke combined with Burnley's 2-1 win over Sheffield United. 'As an investor, that was great,' Dalton said, via Darin Gantt of the team website. 'Buy low.' He now has something — 'very, very, very, very low percentage' something — in common with Panthers owner David Tepper. 'Yeah, we have owners meetings and stuff that we've got to go to,' Dalton said. Dalton called it a 'fun thing' to invest in, though he has never been to the city of Leeds or Elland Road, the home stadium of the club. He also admits he doesn't know all the players. Dalton grew up playing soccer and knew all the rules, but didn't become interested in the business of the sport until watching Amazon's 'All or Nothing' documentary about Manchester City's 2018 season. 'So I just watched it, and I was like, 'I'm kind of hooked on this; this is sweet,'' Dalton said. 'And you kind of figure out how the Premier League works. There's relegation and promotion. I didn't know any of that kind of stuff. So, it's like, 'OK, well, they're playing a Premier League game, but now they're playing an FA Cup game, and now they're playing a Champions League game.' They just mix games in, so they're playing three or four competitions at once. It's wild how the whole thing works.'

Panthers' updated salary cap space after NFL announces big increase
The Carolina Panthers are about to have themselves a little more green this offseason. As first reported by ESPN's Dan Graziano on Wednesday, the NFL has informed teams that the 2025 per-team salary cap space will end up in the ballpark of $277.5 million to $281.5 million. That range would surpass last year's record-breaking cap, $255.4 million, by at least $22.1 million. This is from the memo the league sent to teams today, including league's explanation of why the cap number is not yet finalized. — Dan Graziano (@DanGrazianoESPN) February 19, 2025 So, what does this mean for the Panthers and their resources this offseason? Earlier projections for the 2025 salary cap would've had Carolina at approximately $20.9 million of space. But now, according to Over The Cap, they'd be sitting on at least $24.8 million. Following the re-signings of backup quarterback Andy Dalton and longtime long snapper JJ Jansen, the Panthers currently have 28 players set to enter free agency. Carolina is also expected to explore an extension for Pro Bowl cornerback Jaycee Horn, who will be playing the upcoming campaign on his fifth-year option. Panthers fans react to re-signing of QB Andy Dalton
'The Red Rifle' is sticking around in Charlotte. On Tuesday, the Carolina Panthers announced the re-signing of quarterback Andy Dalton. The 37-year-old veteran, per ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter, will be back on a two-year, $8 million deal with a maximum value of $10 million. Not bad for one of the game's best backup quarterbacks, right? Well, let's see what Panthers fans think . . . Andy was one of the people I wanted them to resign…he's such a good mentor to Bryce — Ci🌞 (@PanthersCi) February 18, 2025 I love this for him — Ci🌞 (@PanthersCi) February 19, 2025 Bro why tf did we just resign Andy Dalton lol — Pharaoh 🐐 (@The_RealDre) February 18, 2025 If Bryce is the guy they're/we're betting on, he doesn't need a mentor. If Bryce is legit that guy – it's winning time! It's time to build the roster to win. We don't need a QB mentor at QB2 anymore. We need performance insurance at QB2. — Panthers Culture 🥷🏽 (@PanthersCulture) February 18, 2025 Dalton isn't a mentor. He's there to take Bryce's job again and not lose this time from a car accident. He's going to compete like he always has. — The 4 Man Rush (@4ourmanrush) February 19, 2025 Y'all must have forgot them PJ Walker , Will Grier , Kyle Allen backup QB days Bc ain't no way y'all THIS mad — IAmWestsideFetti 💙🖤🤟🏾 (@4MR_Fetti) February 18, 2025 Don't care , announce Jaycee Horn's contract extension — LilRocketNasa🚀 (@lilrocketnasa) February 18, 2025 My fan base went from squabbling over long snappers to squabbling over backup quarterbacks.
