Nagpur: Central India Group of Institutions (CIGI), students created posters on 'how to save environment' while the management celebrated
World Environment Day
at its Lonara campus with a tree plantation programme.
Chief guest of the programme was MLA Sana Malik Shaikh. The event was presided over by former cabinet minister Anees Ahmed.
During the tree plantation ceremony, the guests emphasised the importance of protecting natural resources. Students created posters on themes such as 'Save Earth', 'Save Environment', and 'Save Water', and delivered awareness messages about pollution and environmental conservation.
Sana Malik said that a small group of thoughtful, committed, and responsible citizens can indeed change the world.
"Environment Day encourages people to plant more trees, recycle waste, and minimise the use of plastic. All should take a pledge to protect our planet and secure a healthier Earth for future generations," she said.
Anees Ahmed stressed the need for the current generation to adopt environmentally friendly habits for a sustainable lifestyle. He urged everyone to commit to preserving natural resources, animals, and trees, emphasising that World Environment Day, celebrated annually on June 5, recognizes the critical role a healthy environment plays in ensuring a stable and healthy society.
Also present on the occaion were, Dr SM Rajan, Dr Sumati Deodhar, Dr SS Gulab, Madan Kumar Kadve, Arfa S Ahmed, Dr Swati S Raut, DrYasmin Siddiqui, Dr Seema Chikhale, Sanjay Ahir, Rabiya Khan, Victoria Simon and Tushar Meshram
The programme was compered by Dr Yasmin Siddiqui and vote of thanks proposed by Dr Swati Raut.
