Prince George's County residents look forward to special election
LANHAM, Md. () – A new county executive will be voted into Prince George's County soon. Wednesday, May 28, starts the in-person early voting for the special election to decide who will take the seat to finish Angela Alsobrooks' two-year term.
This comes after Alsobrooks won the senator seat for Maryland, leaving Interim County Executive Tara Jackson to fill in.

People in Prince George's County will also vote for the new leader for District 5 of the County Council. This position was previously held by Jolene Ivey before she was voted for the At-Large seat in November.
Candidates include Aisha Braveboy, Johnathan White, Shayla Adams-Stafford and Fred Price Jr., and residents of the county are ready to vote, some even putting ballots in already.
'Now, for me, it just gets it out of the way,' said William Knight. 'Get it over with. I already know who I'm going to vote for, so I voted early.'
'I'm big on voting,' said Robin Rice, another voter. 'I just want that to be completed and done.'

Prince Georgians are also taking careful consideration of who they are selecting. But want people to come out and vote for such an important position.
'I think the residents of Prince George's County are, as the young people say, woke,' said Rice. She also mentioned what traits she would want in an executive.
'Someone that's definitely a people person, not just about politics in itself,' added Rice. 'Someone that understands people and how people and their daily lives are running.'
Early voting will run from May 28 to June 2. Election Day is June 3, and voting centers will open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in various locations.
