CF woman jailed for driving while intoxicated with child in the car
CHIPPEWA FALLS — A Chippewa Falls woman has been convicted of her fourth drunk-driving offense, and this time with a minor in a vehicle.
Angela K. Sabatke, 45, 790 Dutchman Drive, pleaded guilty in Chippewa County Court on Tuesday to possession of meth and OWI-4, stemming from a December 2023 arrest. Charges of operating while revoked and possessing drug paraphernalia were read-in and dismissed.
Judge James Isaacson ordered 170 days in jail, with Huber work release. Isaacson also placed Sabatke on probation for three years, and he gave her a deferred acceptance agreement on the meth possession conviction.
Sabatke must pay $1,975 in court costs and fines, and she must install an ignition interlock device and use it for two years. Her driver's license was revoked for three years, and she must submit a DNA sample. She also must complete an alcohol treatment course.
As terms of her probation, Sabatke cannot consume drugs or alcohol.
According to the criminal complaint, the arrest occurred on Dec. 29, 2023. A Chippewa Falls police officer observed Sabatke's car veering toward a curb and making a sharp correction. When he pulled Sabatke's vehicle over, he observed a seven-year-old child in the car.
When talking to the officer, Sabatke admitted she had consumed four alcoholic drinks. A preliminary break test shows a .068 blood-alcohol level. Because of prior convictions, she was limited to a .02 blood-alcohol level.
The officer searched her vehicle and found a full, 32-ounce can of an alcoholic beverage and two open single-shot bottles of alcohol, the complaint states.
She posted a signature bond and had not been in jail leading up to the conviction Tuesday.
Online court records show that Sabatke was sentenced in July 2023 — about six months before this arrest — for her third drunk-driving offense stemming from an incident in Forest County in 2020.
