Jennifer Aniston's Gate-Crashing Stalker Faces Three-Year Jail Term

Jennifer Aniston's safety was recently put at risk after a disturbing incident involving an alleged stalker who crashed his car into the gate of her Los Angeles home. Days after the incident, the man, who's said to have harassed the star for over two years, is now facing serious felony charges. The stalker, Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, has been charged with felony stalking and vandalism and could spend a few years in prison if convicted. Mississippi native Jimmy Wayne Carwyle is finally facing the full brunt of his actions after stalking and crashing into Aniston's home. On Wednesday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced that the 48-year-old has been charged with one count of felony stalking and one count of felony vandalism. In addition to the felony charges, the D.A.'s office also noted that the culprit faced an aggravating circumstance of the threat of great bodily harm. If convicted as charged, Carwyle faces up to three years in jail. Following the announcement, District Attorney Nathan Hochman shared his thoughts on the dangers of stalking. 'Stalking is a crime that can quickly escalate from harassment to dangerous, violent actions, threatening the safety of victims and our communities. My office is committed to aggressively prosecuting those who stalk and terrorize others, ensuring they are held accountable,' he said in a statement per Deadline. Meanwhile, Carwyle's arraignment is scheduled for May 8, 2025, at the Airport Courthouse in Los Angeles. Prosecutors have requested that his bail be set at $150,000. According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Carwyle's alleged harassment of Jennifer Aniston began in March 2023. They accused him of sending her numerous unsolicited messages via social media, email, and voicemail. These persistent communications reportedly continued for over two years, causing significant distress to the actress. The situation escalated dramatically around 12:30 pm on May 5, 2025, when Carwyle allegedly drove his grey Chrysler PT Cruiser through the front gate of Aniston's residence in the Bel-Air neighborhood of Los Angeles. The collision caused substantial damage to the property. At the time of the incident, Aniston was reportedly at home but wasn't injured. Her private security team detained Carwyle on the driveway until law enforcement arrived and arrested him. Following the incident, sources revealed that Aniston was angry at the LAPD for sharing the exact location of her home, further putting her safety at risk. Speaking to the Daily Mail, the insider said, 'Jen is furious with the LAPD for releasing where she lives. Although you can Google her address, she can't believe the police revealed her block. Since the incident, she's had people flooding outside her house, hoping to get a glimpse of her.' The source further explained that as one of the biggest celebrities in the world, Aniston expected more protection from the police. According to them, the actress would have been just fine if the police had only said it was her Bel-Air home rather than giving the exact location. Besides being furious with the police about their lack of discretion, Aniston is reportedly shaken up by the incident. Another source explained that it was so severe that the Hollywood star considered selling the property. 'This was her dream home, but everyone knows the address. Jen is getting to the point in her life where the last thing she ever wants is to fear for her safety. It is filled with so many memories, but her safety is first and foremost,' the second insider told the Daily Mail. Jennifer Aniston's Bel Air mansion is a stunning mid-century modern estate originally designed by acclaimed architect A. Quincy Jones in 1965. The 8,500-square-foot home sits on 3.4 acres and offers breathtaking views of Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean. Aniston purchased the property in 2011 for $21 million and worked with designer Stephen Shadley to create a warm, inviting atmosphere that blends natural materials like wood, stone, and bronze. The home boasts four bedrooms, six and a half bathrooms, a wine cellar, a home office, and a private screening room. It has a serene swimming pool, teak deck, guesthouse, and beautifully landscaped Asian-inspired gardens. Floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding glass doors seamlessly connect the indoor and outdoor spaces, enhancing the home's tranquil vibe. Aniston also added personal touches, including a Calacatta marble bathtub in the master suite, reflecting her passion for interior design and love of timeless, elegant architecture. For now, it remains unknown if the 56-year-old will eventually sell the mansion and how much the property will go for if she does.

Mental fitness of man accused of killing Cork-born bishop in LA continues to delay trial

The criminal case against the man accused of the murder of a Cork bishop in Los Angeles over two years ago remains deadlocked because of concerns over whether he is mentally fit to stand trial. Carlos Medina, the husband of Bishop David O'Connell's housekeeper, was charged with the murder of the Brooklodge man at his home in Hacienda Heights in Los Angeles days after the shooting on February 18, 2023. He is also charged with a special allegation that he used a firearm during the commission of an offence. He has pleaded not guilty to both charges. His case is back before Hollywood courthouse in California on Monday, as efforts continue to establish if he is mentally competent to stand trial. The case against him was suspended last October after Medina's lawyers raised concerns about his ability to stand trial during a pre-trial hearing. A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has confirmed to the Irish Examiner that 'criminal proceedings are still suspended.' It is understood that his legal team raised their concerns about Medina's mental competency because of interactions they have had with him since his arrest over two years ago. His behaviour while in prison awaiting trial has also sparked concern. He has been assessed by an independent expert who believed he was not able to stand trial. Medina's wife worked as a housekeeper for the bishop, while Medina himself also carried out some work for him on a number of occasions. He was arrested after barricading himself into his home following the discovery of the bishop's body by a deacon who went to the house after bishop O'Connell failed to turn up for a scheduled meeting. If Medina is found mentally unfit to stand trial, he will be required to undergo psychiatric treatment by a licensed psychologist. Following that, the judge will decide on what options of treatment are required, which could include referral to a state mental health facility, for a period of up to four months. The court could grant additional time for treatment, or order that the criminal proceedings against him could continue. If convicted, Medina could face from 35 years to life in prison. The 69-year-old bishop's killing was met with devastation by Catholics across the Los Angeles archdiocese, where he had served since his ordination in 1979. He was laid to rest in a crypt in Los Angeles Cathedral. An exhibit of some of his belongings has been opened in a church where he served. Man accused of beating dog with metal chain in downtown L.A.

A man has been charged with allegedly beating his dog with a metal chain after surveillance video captured the incident in downtown Los Angeles. Donald Jeffes, 40, was charged with felony animal cruelty on April 21, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced. On March 18, surveillance cameras inside a downtown L.A. apartment building captured Jeffes allegedly carrying his dog, Rusty, by the collar and whipping him several times with a metal chain. The video was initially posted on social media where it was shared by many users. Jefes was arrested and pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on April 18. He was released on electronic monitoring pending his next court appearance on May 1 and was ordered not to have any animals under his custody. 'The alleged abuse captured on videos in this case is not just deplorable — it's criminal,' said L.A. County District Attorney Nathan Hochman. 'In Los Angeles County, we treat animal cruelty as a serious offense that will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Our message is simple: If you abuse animals, you will face real consequences.' If convicted as charged, Jeffes faces up to three years in state prison. Details on the whereabouts of the suspect's dog, Rusty, an American Micro Bully, were not released. The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Michael Belcher and was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Funeral held for 13-year-old boy found murdered in Ventura County

Friends and family members held a funeral service Saturday to honor the 13-year-old boy who was found murdered in Ventura County. Loved ones gathered at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church to honor Oscar Omar Hernandez, who was found murdered on April 2. Mario Edgardo Garcia Aquino, 43, a traveling soccer coach with the Hurricane Valley boys soccer club near Sylmar, was charged in connection to Hernandez's death. Hernandez's family reported him missing on March 30 after he failed to return home. They've repeatedly claimed that Garcia Aquino was the last person to see him alive after the boy took a train to visit the man's Antelope Valley home when he disappeared. Hernandez had planned to earn extra money by helping the coach paint soccer jerseys, his family said. But when his family called his cell phone, the coach reportedly answered and said Hernandez was too busy to talk. The family contacted law enforcement and three days later on April 2, the boy's body was discovered in a ditch in a wooded area off an Oxnard road. Garcia Aquino has also been charged in a separate sexual abuse case involving a 16-year-old boy in a February 2024 incident, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. On April 7, he was charged with assault with intent to commit rape involving the 16-year-old, court documents said. He was also the subject of a Los Angeles Police Department investigation into the suspected sexual assault of a minor in 2022 but wasn't charged because the alleged victim declined to testify against him, according to the Los Angeles Times. Both victims were allegedly connected to Garcia Aquino's soccer coaching, the Times said. On Saturday, April 12, Hernandez's family and loved ones gathered for his funeral service. The boy's mother was overwhelmed with grief and nearly fainted when she approached his casket. 'It's just crazy how he could be a soccer coach, coaching all these little kids, when in reality he had this whole backstory,' said Andrew Barrios, Hernandez's friend. 'It's heartbreaking seeing your friend in a casket.' Hernandez was a 7th grade student at Sun Valley Magnet School and was an excellent soccer player, his friends said. His family moved to the U.S. from Honduras just three years ago. He first met Garcia Aquino at the Valley Plaza Sports Complex in North Hollywood, according to this family. Garcia-Aquino was charged with murder with special circumstances — lewd acts with a child. He could face the death penalty. He is also an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador, multiple law enforcement officials told the L.A. Times anonymously. The boy's family wants justice for his death. At a candlelight vigil on April 4, his grieving mother said in Spanish that, 'Perhaps my son gave his life for others to be exposed.' The family released a statement on the boy's death saying, 'We are devastated by the unimaginable loss of our beloved son Oscar Omar Hernandez Bautista. His bright spirit and love for soccer brought joy to everyone who knew him. We are heartbroken that someone entrusted with his care could commit such a horrific act.' Garcia Aquino is scheduled to appear in court on April 30. Investigators believe more victims may be out there. 'There's always a fear that there are more victims and we want to make sure we account for everybody out there,' said L.A. County Sheriff Robert Luna. Siblings charged with murder in deadly attempted carjacking of man in Cerritos

Two siblings were arrested and charged with murder for a deadly shooting during an attempted carjacking in Cerritos. The suspects were identified as John Chong Moon, 54, and Cindy Kim, 58, both of La Palma, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. On Feb. 25, the victim, Cuauhtemoc Garcia, 66, was exiting his car to take an afternoon walk along the Coyote Creek Bike Path near Don Knabe Park in Cerritos at around 12:30 p.m. That's when the suspects allegedly approached Garcia and attempted to steal his car, authorities said. When Garcia refused to hand over his car keys, Moon and Kim allegedly shot and killed him. They fled the scene before authorities arrived. The L.A. County Sheriff's Department was able to identify the suspects through a video posted on TikTok that showed the siblings. On March 10, the siblings were located by officers from the Fullerton and Anaheim Police Departments. At the time, they refused to surrender and led police on a pursuit before they were eventually stopped and taken into custody. 'This was a senseless and brutal act of violence that took the life of a husband, father and businessman who simply wanted to enjoy a peaceful walk,' said L.A. County District Attorney Nathan Hochman. 'My sympathies go out to his family as they grieve this unimaginable loss.' On March 12, the DA's office announced Moon and Kim were both charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted second-degree robbery. If convicted on all charges, both could face life in prison. An arraignment hearing took place on Wednesday at the Bellflower Courthouse. 'We will pursue justice to the fullest extent of the law to hold those responsible accountable,' Hochman said. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
