Stray goat rescued after running loose in San Diego neighborhood

(Watch the video of the rescue above, courtesy of San Diego Humane Society) SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A stray goat that was seen gallivanting around a southeast San Diego neighborhood Wednesday morning has been rescued. The San Diego Humane Society said it received a call around 10:20 a.m. from a resident in Valencia Park who saw the goat in the grassy field behind their home. Humane Law Enforcement officers responded to the area to capture the goat. However, because the goat had plenty of space to roam, SDHS' Emergency Response Team had to help with the rescue. Eyes itching? Sneezing more? It could be due to rising pollen levels A team of 12 responders safely guided the goat, described as a male Anglo-Nubian, into a livestock trailer using a long orange plastic fence, SDHS officials stated. The goat was then transported to the humane society's Escondido campus, which provides specialized care for livestock. Per SDHS rules regarding all lost animals, the goat was placed on a 72-hour stray hold until it is claimed by the owner. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Rescuers use orange fence to corral loose goat in San Diego

April 10 (UPI) -- The San Diego Humane Society said it took a total 12 officers to wrangle a goat found wandering loose in the city. The SDHS said the male Anglo-Nubian goat was reported Wednesday morning in the Valencia Park neighborhood. Officers arrived to find the animal in a large grassy field, with plenty of room to flee. The rescuers called in backup and a total 12 officers ended up using a plastic orange fence to guide the goat into a waiting livestock trailer. The goat is being cared for at the SDHS' Escondido Campus until its owner can be identified. The rescue came just a few days after the San Diego Humane Society rounded up an emu running loose through Vista, a suburb of the city. The emu is also currently being kept in Escondido.
