6.6 quake hits northern coast of Papua New Guinea

The US National Tsunami Warning Centre said there was no tsunami threat for the US West Coast, British Columbia or Alaska , and it did not believe there was a risk to other countries either. In the last month Papua New Guinea has experienced four quakes of 5 magnitude or greater including one that was 5.7. Last month a 6.9 quake struck off the coast of the New Britain region of PNG.
