CM: 4-lane road to ease traffic congestion in city
Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday conducted a site inspection of the ongoing road construction and underground drainage project from Saidpur Nala to Pahari and asked the officials concerned to ensure its speedy completion.
He also reviewed the drainage pumping station at Pahari.
During the inspection, the CM visited various locations, including the drain near Sheetla Mandir flyover and the Saidpur Nala.
While assessing the construction work, Nitish said he had visited the site several times earlier and found the project to be "very good". He asked the officials to properly renovate the Saidpur Nala and expedite construction of a
four-lane road
above it.
"This four-lane road would resolve the traffic congestion issues in Saidpur, Rajendra Nagar, Musallahpur Haat, Gaighat and Pahari areas and provide an alternative route for connecting to the New Patna Bypass. Once the four-lane road is completed, it will not only facilitate better transportation for the city's residents but also enhance the city's look," Nitish said.
A statement from the Chief Minister's Office said, "It is noteworthy that the water from nine drainage pumping stations and one sewage treatment plant (STP) of the state capital flows through the Saidpur Nala.
Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation
Limited (BUIDCO) is undertaking the construction of the road along with the underground drain from Saidpur Nala to Pahari at a cost of Rs 259 crore.
