Anko heated elbow wrap sold in Kmart and Target urgently recalled over burn risk

A popular heated elbow wrap sold at Kmart and Target across Australia has been urgently recalled over safety concerns. The Anko Heat Elbow Wrap could pose a risk of burn injuries, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission warned in its recall notice on Tuesday. The rechargeable heat pad may overheat if it is incorrectly positioned or wrapped too tightly around the elbow, according to the recall notice. The risk is particularly high for people with heat sensitivity. Injuries have already occurred, the recall notice said. The product was sold both in-store and online at Kmart and Target between January 1 and April 4. Consumers are urged to stop using the product immediately and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. The ACCC also encourages people to notify the store if they have sold or gifted the item to someone else. If returning the product is not possible, customers should contact Kmart on 1800 124 125 or Target on 1300 753 567 for more information.

The Anko Heat Elbow Wrap — a rechargeable heat pad for use on the elbow — was recalled on Tuesday due to a fault which causes it to 'overheat if it is positioned incorrectly or is wrapped around too tight on the elbow'. '(There is a) risk of burns injuries to the skin, with increased risk for heat-sensitive customers,' the recall stated. The product safety recall also confirmed injuries have already occured. The product was sold in Kmart stores, online and via the Kmart app from January 1, 2025 to April 4, 2025. Customers who purchased the product have been told to immediately stop use and return to the place of purchase for a full refund.
