Anlene CholestoPro offers dual action formula, supporting cholesterol levels & mobility
KUALA LUMPUR: Nearly one in three Malaysians suffers from high cholesterol, but more than half remain unaware due to the absence of early symptoms, making it one of the country's leading 'silent killers' linked to heart attacks and strokes. Despite the growing health concern, awareness of routine health screenings and lifestyle changes remains low, particularly among those aged 35 and above. In response, Anlene has launched Anlene CholestoPro, a new milk formulation with a dual-action blend of nutrients designed to support both optimal cholesterol levels and mobility, which includes bone, joint and muscle health. The product contains 1.2 grams of plant sterols in two daily servings, clinically proven to help reduce cholesterol. It also provides 100 per cent of the recommended daily intake of calcium and vitamin D, along with protein, collagen and vitamin C to support overall movement and wellness. Anlene said the new product encourages a proactive approach to health, particularly for adults at higher risk of cardiovascular issues. NATIONWIDE ROADSHOW In conjunction with the launch, Anlene is conducting a nationwide health roadshow at selected locations until July. Members of the public can undergo free cholesterol checks, bone scans and muscle strength assessments to better understand their health status. A combination of a balanced diet and an active lifestyle remains the most effective strategy to manage cholesterol levels and maintain long-term health, especially among middle-aged individuals.

#HEALTH: Keep cholesterol in check
HIGH cholesterol is an increasing health concern in Malaysia, affecting millions of adults and elevating the risk of serious complications. Cholesterol management is often overlooked despite its crucial connection to overall mobility and heart health. According to the National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) 2023, over half a million Malaysian adults are living with four major non-communicable diseases namely diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and obesity. Many do not realise that strong bones, flexible joints, and active muscles are essential for maintaining an active lifestyle, which in turn supports better cholesterol management. Nearly 7.5 million adults, or 33.3 per cent of the population has high cholesterol, yet one in two remain unaware of their condition. Additionally, NHMS 2023 shows that 54.4 per cent of adults are overweight or obese, further contributing to the risk of cholesterol-related health issues Fonterra Brands Malaysia and Singapore general manager Ganesh Thiagarajan, says managing cholesterol requires a combination of efforts, including proper nutrition and an active lifestyle. "Staying physically active and managing cholesterol go hand-in-hand. To keep moving, we need strong bones, joints, and muscles. At the same time, poor bones, joints, and muscle health can limit activity levels, increasing the risk of weight gain and high cholesterol, which may contribute to the development of heart disease." Speaking during the launch of Anlene CholestoPro, which has been formulated with plant sterols, calcium, and vitamin D, as well as protein and collagen, Ganesh pointed out that it is not just about reducing cholesterol; but about ensuring Malaysians have the strength to keep doing what they love for longer. High cholesterol is a serious yet often overlooked health risk because it has no noticeable symptoms, adds Dr Azura Abas. "Many don't realise that high cholesterol significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular disease due to cholesterol buildup in the arteries, which can lead to blockages, heart attacks, and other serious complications. In fact, it is the second most prevalent risk factor for heart-related conditions" In Malaysia, cardiovascular disease is rising, with cases occurring an average of ten years earlier than the global trend, she adds. High cholesterol is often the result of unhealthy lifestyle choices, such as not getting enough exercise, not eating a balanced diet, or consuming large amounts of saturated fats. But the good news is that we can take control. Dr Azura says by staying active, eating well, and incorporating cholesterol-lowering foods like plant sterols - we can make a significant impact on our cholesterol management. Strong mobility supports an active lifestyle. When we strengthen our bones, joints, and muscles, we create a strong foundation that enables us to stay active, which in turn helps to keep our cholesterol levels in check and supports heart health. The two go hand-in-hand. Studies show that consuming 1.2g of plant sterols daily can effectively lower LDL (bad cholesterol) cholesterol levels by partially blocking the absorption of cholesterol from the gut. In addition, consumption of milk added with important nutrients such as calcium, vitamin D, magnesium and zinc help to reduce bone breakdown. To celebrate the launch of Anlene CholestoPro, Anlene is hosting the Anlene Get Active, Let's Move roadshow, where Malaysians can enjoy free bone scans and muscle strength tests. It is also partnering with Sunway Multicare and Avometer to offer complimentary cholesterol checks. This nationwide initiative aims to raise awareness about mobility and cholesterol health, empowering individuals to lead active and healthier lifestyles.
