Sources: Man barricaded inside home and making bomb threats, JSO at the scene
Action News Jax sources say the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is at a College Gardens home where a man is barricaded inside and making bomb threats. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< Police have been on West 3rd Street since earlier Thursday evening. Sources told Action News Jax's Annette Gutierrez that the suspect used to be a Marine and knows how to make bombs. They said his girlfriend sent a tip to the FBI and told police the suspect owns a gun and has a personality disorder. He claims to have homemade bombs, according to sources. Witnesses said the man keeps entering and exiting the home, asking for a warrant, and demanding to speak to someone higher up in the chain of command. 'He [police] told me that I couldn't get in. And that he didn't want to cause a ruckus because of what was going on, but he did tell me it was a bomb threat,' neighbor Melika Simmons told Action News Jax. Gutierrez has been at the scene for hours. She has seen drones, a bomb squad unit, and heard investigators talking over a megaphone. This is a developing story. ‘Tragic fire': RISE Doro apartments start to rebuild one year after downtown fire
Tuesday marks one year since RISE Doro, a brand-new apartment complex in downtown Jacksonville, went up in flames. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< People were even supposed to move in later that week. Now, the apartment is rising from the ashes, literally.
