John Abraham To Launch Lakadbaggha: The Prologue In Mumbai
Last Updated: Lakadbaggha: The Prologue, a graphic novel by Anshuman Jha and Brittain Peck, will be unveiled on May 26 in Mumbai by John Abraham. We have a new kind of hero, one who doesn't wear a cape, but fights for those without a voice. Lakadbaggha: The Prologue, a gripping new graphic novel, is set to be unveiled on May 26 in Mumbai, with none other than actor, animal rights advocate, and PETA India's Honorary Director John Abraham doing the honours. Written by actor-filmmaker Anshuman Jha and illustrated by celebrated American comic artist Brittain Peck, the book acts as a prelude to the cult action film Lakadbaggha. It's not just a prequel but the first brick in building an entire universe around India's original animal-loving vigilante. This ambitious project brings together stunning visuals and a strong message about protecting the voiceless – animals. Audiences will be introduced to the origin story of Arjun Bakshi, the mysterious fighter who takes on cruelty with claw and courage. For Anshuman Jha, the comic is deeply personal. 'I grew up as a kid in Allahabad reading Chacha Choudhary, Nagraj & Tintin. I was also blessed to have been exposed to animals & nature – with my heart always deeply rooting for them. I always dreamt of a hero who would fight for the voiceless — not just on screen, but off the pages too. Lakadbaggha – The Prologue is the beginning of that dream realised…" Brittain Peck, who brings Arjun Bakshi's world to life on the page, shared, 'I'm honoured and thrilled to be partnering with Anshuman to bring Arjun Bakshi to the pages of a comic book based on a film I deeply admire… Arjun Bakshi's story and passion for protecting those less fortunate is one that I wish I had found when I was a kid, which makes me all the more excited to create Arjun as a comic hero for kids to read today." Published by Om Books International, known for pushing creative boundaries in Indian publishing, Lakadbaggha: The Prologue marks the beginning of a powerful new chapter in Indian storytelling. The Mumbai launch will see the cast and crew of the Lakadbaggha franchise, including Ridhi Dogra, in attendance. First Published:

Anshuman Jha 'irked but relieved' on Lord Curzon Ki Haveli getting ‘A' certificate from CBFC
Actor and filmmaker Anshuman Jha is "relieved, grateful and ready" as his directorial debut Lord Curzon Ki Haveli has been officially cleared by the censor board after a prolonged four-month+ engagement with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). But as the CBFC has granted the film an A (Adults Only) certification with three mandated changes, Jha is not particularly happy about it. Speaking on the certification, Anshuman Jha says, 'It's a relief that we finally have the certification. The journey hasn't been easy, but we remained committed to the film we wanted to showcase. I was not pleased that it took so long but more importantly that even after an A certification we had to mute and cut scenes. There are other films which get away with a U/A having worse expletives/violence and while I am okay doing the cuts to follow rules, having a standard yardstick is what will make it a level playing field. What really irks me is the fact that it has been certified as an 'English- Partly Hindi film' when it is 50-50 vis-a-vis both languages. It is set in England so for it to feel and flow naturally, writer Bikas Mishra and I kept a balance between both languages consciously. But calling it English and partly Hindi feels a little unfair. 'Hindi party English' would have been a fairer assessment since in essence it is an Indian film about Asians in the West & their identity crisis." Starring Arjun Mathur, Rasika Dugal, Paresh Pahuja, and Tanmay Dhanania, the film weaves an atmospheric tale around themes of identity and immigration, centered on the experiences of Asians in the UK. A black comedy thriller, the film has been screened at various film festivals abroad and was the only Indian selection at Europe's premier genre showcase — Razor Reel Flanders 2024 — and earned Jha the Best Director honour at the UK Asian Film Festival 2024. The film has garnered appreciation around the world and Jha adds that he "shouldn't really be complaining". "I believe comfort is the enemy, so these challenges in my debut directorial have only strengthened my resolve. Our audiences are evolving rapidly and it is our responsibility as makers to give them original cinema, which they may accept or reject but we owe it to them. Ones that come from an authentic creative place and not a lazy one. Lord Curzon Ki Haveli is an attempt at one such unique cinematic experience. Alfred Hitchcock is one of my favourite film makers and this is my outright homage to him. The film tiptoes through themes of identity and immigration—global concerns with a very personal pulse. And I am hoping that it sees the light of the day soon now that we are 'censored' (pun intended )."

The Chilean delegation also visited YRF Studios. There's already talk about Pathaan 2 and Lakadbaggha 3 being shot in Chile next year. Lakadbaggha is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Victor Mukherjee, written by Alok Sharma and produced by First Ray Films. It starred Anshuman Jha, Riddhi Dogra, Paresh Pahuja and Milind Soman. The film was released on January 13, 2023, and had its European premiere as an official selection at the 20th Indisches International Film Festival at Stuttgart Germany in July 2023. The story followed Arjun Bakshi, a martial arts trainer with a soft spot for animals. He turns into a vigilante when his beloved dog Shanku goes missing. While searching for him, Arjun stumbles upon a rare Indian black-striped hyena and uncovers a dangerous illegal animal trade operating in Kolkata. The racket is run by Aryan—who also happens to be the brother of Crime Branch officer Akshara D'Souza. First Published:

Soni Razdan's Hari Ka Om To Premiere As Gala Highlight At UK Asian Film Festival 2025
Last Updated: Hari Ka Om, starring Anshuman Jha, Soni Razdan, and Raghubir Yadav, will premiere at the UK Asian Film Festival 2025. After captivating audiences across Australia, North America, Canada, and India, Hari Ka Om, the poignant father-son drama starring Anshuman Jha, Soni Razdan, and Raghubir Yadav, is now headed to Europe. The film is set for its European Premiere as the centerpiece gala screening at the prestigious UK Asian Film Festival 2025. The screening will take place on May 7 at London's iconic Regent Street Cinema. Directed by Harish Vyas—known for Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain and Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele—Hari Ka Om marks the third collaboration between him and lead actor Anshuman Jha. The story, set in small-town India, explores the emotional complexities within a generational household, spotlighting the often-unspoken gaps between fathers and sons. 'HARI KA OM is the father-son film we need today, small town India set, deals with issues which occur in nearly every home. It dwells on the fact that without emotional regulation — mistakes can be made by the young & the old. It's a quintessential generational divide film and I look forward to being in the UK for the screening & the Q/A," says Anshuman Jha. Jha, who received praise for his roles in Hum Bhi Akele (2021) as a gay man and in Lakadbaggha (2023) as an animal rights vigilante, takes a sharp turn in Hari Ka Om, portraying a middle-class boy from Bhopal. Reflecting on his collaboration with Jha, Harish Vyas shares, 'Anshuman is a very simple person but also has a razor-sharp film brain. In addition to being a fabulous actor of this generation, he understands all aspects of cinema like very few people I have met. Their chemistry (Raghubir Yadav & Anshuman) is a delight in this film. We are thrilled to be premiering in the UK at such a prestigious platform." The film continues to gain momentum ahead of its worldwide theatrical release in July 2025. Meanwhile, Anshuman Jha's directorial debut, Lord Curzon Ki Haveli, is also expected to release later this year. First Published:
