Paedophile dad left baby daughter alone to die in boiling hot car for nine hours
One-year-old Ansleigh Marie Boatman was strapped into her car seat by her drunk dad Joseph Boatman at 2.30am and left alone as temperatures rose
A mum who was forced to hand over her toddler daughter to her paedophile ex after he was granted visitation rights, has spoken our after her child died after she was left for nine hours in a boiling hot car.
One-year-old Ansleigh Marie Boatman was found dead in a car as temperatures reached 40C after she was strapped into her car seat by her drunk dad Joseph Boatman at 2.30am and left alone. Her mum Kristin Fulcher could not get hold of her ex all day, as she wanted to check on her daughter, but she was instead phoned by police to inform her Ansleigh was dead.
Kristen and her 21-month-old daughter's father had a custody arrangement over Ansleigh, despite Boatman being a pedophile who was convicted after a huge sting by the FBI. The father was made to attend parenting classes.
He was granted access but often made excuses as to why he couldn't see his daughter. He started seeing her regularly since January this and the courts granted him one month-long visit a year.
Boatman had picked Ansleigh up on Friday, May 23 was supposed to hand her back to her mother on Saturday, June 28. On Sunday, June 8, Boatman arrived at his relative's home where Ansleigh was sleeping at around 2am.
He took her and strapped her into his car, but left her alone. Detectives say he 'consumed multiple alcoholic beverages' before collecting his daughter, and after strapping her in the car, he went back inside the house and never returned.
Ansleigh was trapped in the car as dawn broke and temperatures quickly rose, to more than 105F - equivalent to around 40C. Boatman was originally charged with negligent homicide, but it was later changed to second-degree murder.
Kristin's sister Kerri Kirchner told the Daily Mail the family were left "heartbroken and hurt" but also "angry and p****d off" at his "senseless and irresponsible" actions.
Sheriff Randy Smith said: "This is a devastating loss that no family ever wants to face. When a child is left in a vehicle, especially on a day when the heat index climbs over 100 degrees, the outcome can turn deadly in a matter of minutes.
"This case involved compromised judgment, and the result was heartbreaking."
In June 2019 Boatman was caught by the FBI - along with more than 60 others - in Operation Broken Heart, an initiative to bust child abuse in Louisiana. He was convicted for the online solicitation of a minor.
