Woman dies after car crashes into ditch

A woman has died after she suffering serious injuries in a crash last week. Emergency services were called at 3.37pm on March 27 to Meadow Lane in Lathom, near Ormskirk, to a report of a crash. Lancashire Police officers arrive to find a Suzuki Splash car had left the road and crashed into a ditch at the side of the road. The driver of the car, a woman in her 80s, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Officers are appealing for dashcam footage as enquiries continue into the circumstances surrounding which led to the crash. Sgt Anthony Beckett, of our Roads Policing Team, said: 'My thoughts first and foremost are with the driver's loved ones at this extremely difficult time. They are being supported by specially trained officers. 'This collision happened in a rural location, and we are trying to find out why the car left the carriageway and when it happened. A woman in her 80s has died after her car veered off a rural road and landed in a ditch, police have said. Lancashire Police said it received a call about a road traffic collision on Meadow Lane in Lathom, near Ormskirk, at about 15:35 GMT on 27 March. Officers found a Suzuki Splash lying in a ditch. The seriously injured driver was taken to hospital where she later died. Sgt Anthony Beckett, of Lancashire Police's roads policing team, said: "My thoughts first and foremost are with the driver's loved ones at this extremely difficult time. "They are being supported by specially trained officers. "This collision happened in a rural location, and we are trying to find out why the car left the carriageway, and when it happened.
