Montreal police are investigating the death of an 18-year-old man in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.
At first, the man's death was being treated as suspicious, but police have since confirmed it to be the city's 16th homicide of the year.
Anthony Dorelas, spokesperson for Montreal police, said they received calls reporting an injured person at around 10 p.m. on Saturday near Notre-Dame and Sainte-Catherine streets.
The young man was pronounced dead at the scene. A second person was found there, added Dorelas, with non-life threatening injuries.
The police's major crimes unit is investigating the death of the man and as of 2 p.m. on Sunday, no arrest had yet been made.
