Anthony Julius: ‘Lessons of David Irving case are more relevant than ever'
It is a quarter of a century since Deborah Lipstadt was on the receiving end of a defamation claim from David Irving, after the US academic published Denying the Holocaust: The Growing Assault on Truth and Memory, in which she had labelled the Englishman a Holocaust denier.
Lipstadt contacted Anthony Julius, a solicitor at the London law firm Mishcon de Reya, who led her defence team.
Julius had already come to prominence for having represented the late Princess Dianaafter a tabloid newspaper published pictures of her exercising at a gym and then again in her divorce from Prince, now King, Charles.
