Woman Gets Manicure—Doesn't Realize Small Detail That Changes Everything

A woman thought she had got a natural color for her nails, until she realized they looked quite a bit different in the dark.
TikTok user @gretchpetriehole shared a video on May 11 which has racked up more than 40,000 likes, as she showed the result of a recent trip to the salon for a manicure.
"Got my nails done a nice, normal color," she told the camera, showing off the pale pink nails. "Very natural, very neutral."
But, holding her hand out in front of her, she then walked into a dark room—and as soon as she closed the door, it became obvious the nails' natural look had vanished.
Because, as soon as she entered the darkness, her nails began glowing brightly.
"No one told me," she said as she showed off the glowing nails. "No one sat down and told me: 'We putting glow-in-the-dark nail polish on your hands.'"
She added in a caption, however: "Perhaps trendy?"
And it's clear that, to many of the more than 450,000 viewers who watched the clip, this was a trend they could get on board with.
"Do you know the brand or color? I'm obsessed," one commenter wrote, as another admitted: "I hated them until you showed they glow. Now I love it."
"This may be the child in me, but I would LOVE this," another said, while yet another declared: "This is something I had no idea existed and now I want it."
Others in the comments shared similar stories, one parent recalling: "My kid had a surprise glow in the dark skeleton pajamas and I almost had a heart attack in the middle of the night when he walked up to me in the dark."
"This happened to me a few weeks ago and I didn't realize until I went to bed and I thought a lightning bug was in my bed," another shared.
In comments under the video, the woman said she was "not upset" and was now getting used to the glowing nails, to the point she was considering getting them again.

And to all those interested, she revealed the brand and color was Anthony Vince 202—having gone back to the nail salon to check, and realizing the nail swatch did, indeed, describe them as part of a "glow in the dark collection."
Glow-in-the-dark products, from nails to toys and decorations, use phosphors to get their effect. Phosphor is a substance that emits light after being energized, and in the case of glow-in-the-dark objects, the phosphors are energized by light, including ultraviolet light, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
