Joint operation held to curb narcotics smuggling at railway station
To check the smuggling of narcotics and ganja at the Vijayawada railway station, a special drive was carried out on Tuesday. Teams from the Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (ELITE), Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) participated in the drive.
Following the directions of ELITE IGP Ake Ravi Krishna and GRP Superintendent of Police, Rahul Dev Singh, the teams searched the platforms and luggage in the waiting halls.
As part of the inspection, the teams checked Train No. 17479 (Puri-TPTY) Express with the assistance of a sniffer dog.
GRP inspector J.V. Ramana and Vijayawada RPF inspector Baig said: 'The drive is part of our efforts to prevent smuggling through trains.'
