Five held in home-based ‘drug farm'
The Anti-Narcotics Police have arrested five individuals of various nationalities who were allegedly involved in the cultivation and trafficking of narcotics from inside a residential property. The market value of the seized drugs is estimated to exceed BD1 million. In a major anti-drug operation, the arrests were made during a high-level operation carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Division under the General Department of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science. The suspects, aged between 28 and 51, had reportedly converted the residence into a drug cultivation site, fully equipping it with tools and materials required for planting and processing illegal substances. According to the authorities, initial intelligence indicated that narcotic plants were being grown at the location. Swift investigations led to the identification of the suspects and a coordinated raid resulted in their arrest at the scene. All illegal materials and equipment were confiscated during the operation. Legal procedures have been initiated, and the case has been referred to the Public Prosecution for further action.

Man Caught Trying to Smuggle $10,000 Worth of Cocaine onto a Plane Under His Wig: Police
A man has been arrested after allegedly trying to smuggle cocaine worth $10,000 onto a flight under his wig, police say. The 40-year-old suspect, from Pereira, was attempting to board a flight from Cartagena to Amsterdam when he was stopped at security by Anti-Narcotics Police, per a video shared on X by the Colombian National Police. Police said that the amount of cocaine the man had allegedly been trying to smuggle through the airport had been valued at more than 10,000 euros (just under $10,500), per a Monday, Feb. 24 news release. Officers confirmed the cocaine capsules had been "camouflaged in a wig," sharing footage of the moment the wig was cut open to reveal the drugs before officers tested it. The incident happened on Thursday, Feb. 20, according to the BBC. "These capsules contained a substance that, after being subjected to the Homologated Preliminary Identification Test (PIPH), tested positive for cocaine," police said, per the release. The post added, "According to the flight plans of the captured 40-year-old, he intended to travel to Amsterdam (Netherlands), where he was presumed to be carrying the alkaloid." "This important result has affected criminal finances and prevented the sale of more than 400 doses of cocaine," authorities continued, adding that the "person in question has two court records for the crime of drug trafficking." The suspect has now been "placed at the disposal of the Attorney General's Office for the crime of trafficking, manufacturing and carrying narcotic substances," police said, per the release. 'We are dealing decisive blows against these criminal structures that not only fight over local drug trafficking, but are also the generators of different violent acts and other types of crimes that disrupt peace and coexistence," the officer shared, per the post. "We continue to insist on the importance of the community being our main ally, providing timely information that helps us identify and locate criminals,' he continued. Drug runner freed after helping catch trafficker
Spared a long run in jail, an Asian woman caught at Bahrain's airport with methamphetamine and heroin turned informer, helping police snare a trafficker in an elaborate sting. Officers had her call the man behind the operation, telling him she had cleared customs without trouble. Moments after he arrived to collect the stash, officers rushed in. The High Criminal Court of Appeal ruled that her role in bringing down the smuggling ring outweighed her crime, overturning her sentence. Meanwhile, the man she led them to had his punishment increased — his 10-year jail term now comes with a BD5,000 fine and a one-way ticket out of Bahrain. Lawyers Samraa Abdulrahman and Zahra Al Jiser confirmed the ruling. She had flown in from an Asian country, but her journey took a turn at the X-ray scanner. Something about her suitcase raised flags, which led officers to send her through the red channel. She denied carrying anything out of order, but a search turned up carefully wrapped packages hidden in the base of her bag, their leather-like coating helping them blend in. Inside, customs officers found 2,120.12 grams of crystalline substances and 235 grams of powder. Lab tests later confirmed the stash as methamphetamine and heroin. Faced with the discovery, she stuck to her story — she had no idea what was inside and was simply told to hand the bag to someone waiting for her outside. Handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Police, she was given a choice to work with them or face the consequences.
