Neil Young Tells Trump To Stop Feuding With Rockers And Clean Up The Mess He Made

Neil Young thinks President Donald Trump should stop squabbling with musicians and start doing his 'real job.' In a pointed post on his personal website on Tuesday, the 'Ohio' singer told the commander in chief he should focus on 'saving America from the mess' he made instead of obsessing over people who have criticized him, like Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift. 'What are you worryin' about man?' Young's message began. 'Bruce and thousands of musicians think you are ruining America. You worry about that instead of the dyin' kids in Gaza.' 'That's your problem. I am not scared of you,' Young's message continued. 'Neither are the rest of us.' Springsteen stoked Trump's wrath last week when the rocker called his administration 'corrupt, incompetent and treasonous' during a concert in Manchester, England. The criticism clearly got to the president, who turned to Truth Social to call the 'Born in the U.S.A.' singer a 'dried out 'prune' of a rocker' who 'ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country.' Young then called out Trump for gutting the Federal Emergency Management Agency and leaving Americans without relief after tornadoes ravaged the central U.S., before writing, 'STOP THINKING ABOUT WHAT ROCKERS ARE SAYING. Think about saving America from the mess you made.' Referring to another one of the president's recent targets, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer said, 'Taylor Swift is right.' 'So is Bruce. You know how I feel,' added the longtime Trump critic. 'You are more worried about yourself than AMERICA. Wake up Trump!!' 'Remember what the White House is? 86/47???' Young asked, appearing to reference former FBI director James Comey's Instagram post that outraged the president and his supporters. 'That's what you think about? 'You are forgetting your real job,' continued Young, who was born in Canada and became a U.S. citizen in 2020. 'You work for us. Wake up Republicans! This guy is out of control. We need a real president!' He signed off, writing, 'Neil young and many others.' Experts sound alarm on Elon Musk's misguided Tesla plan

Tesla (TSLA) has been facing an increasing number of challenges since 2025 began. Between the ongoing threat posed by the trade war and the anti-brand sentiment sparked by Elon Musk's political affiliations, it has proven increasingly difficult for TSLA stock to garner sustainable momentum. On April 22, Tesla reported Q1 earnings as both investors and consumers tuned in early to learn about Musk's plans for the company's future. The decision to focus on his Capitol Hill responsibilities rather than his companies has generated concern among even bullish analysts. 💵💰Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter 💰💵 On the call, Musk issued vague statements about his plans to scale back his work with the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and return to Tesla. While TSLA stock has responded well to the news, victory celebrations may be premature. The company is still facing a long road to recovery, as evidenced by a new growth plan that many experts believe is ill-advised. Anti-Tesla consumer sentiment has spiked in recent months but the company has other source: TheStreet/Getty Tesla is trying to pull off something that experts think can't be done While much of the recent focus on Tesla has been on its 71% profit decline and 20% drop in automotive revenue, the company is also facing another key problem some investors may not be accounting for: its failure to effectively sell the Cybertruck. Some photos published by Sherwood News recently showed a massive pileup of unsold Cybertrucks near Tesla's facility in Austin, Texas. Other reports have revealed parking lots with similar buildup in locations such as Overland Park, Kansas. Related: Shocking photos reveal Tesla's potential ballooning concern Reports indicate that since the Cybertruck's release, an event preceded by years of hype, Tesla has delivered less than 50,000 to date. While some have speculated that its lack of popularity could be due to anti-Musk backlash, a look back shows that the Cybertruck pileup did not begin recently enough for that to be the only factor. The clear takeaway from this trend is that demand for Tesla Cybertrucks isn't keeping pace with supply. In response, Tesla has been quietly working on a solution that doesn't seem to be working so far: rebranding the Cybertruck as the vehicle of the American working man. According to Business Insider, Tesla wants its highly futuristic-looking vehicle to be seen as 'less DeLorean, more Ford F-150.' But from the perspective of many experts, this idea is misguided and has little chance of success. Electric vehicle (EV) industry veteran Joseph Nagle, who serves as Head of Corporate Strategy at Pando Electric, spoke to TheStreet about the reasons Tesla's Cybertruck rebrand is likely to fail.

Protesters are taking a victory lap after Tesla's dismal earnings — and taking aim at Musk's other companies

Anti-Tesla protestors seemed to have gained momentum after the automaker's earnings miss on Tuesday. Tesla Takedown told BI its Bluesky follower count went up 10% to 15% in the 24 hours after the call. The organization said it plans to expand its efforts to target other companies run by Elon Musk. Anti-Elon Musk and anti-Tesla protesters are celebrating a win after the automaker's earnings miss on Tuesday. "Today's earnings report sends a very clear message," anti-Tesla organization Tesla Takedown wrote in an email on Tuesday. "The Tesla Takedown grassroots pressure is beginning to hit Tesla where it hurts - the company's bottom line." Tesla's first-quarter earnings report revealed the automaker fell short on revenue and earnings per share. In the follow-up call, Tesla CFO Vaibhav Taneja said that vandalism and anti-Tesla hostility "had an impact in certain markets." Musk also announced during the call that he plans to take a significant step back from his role with DOGE starting next month. The apparent impact of the boycott efforts seems to have spurred more interest in one of the groups responsible. Tesla Takedown told Business Insider that its post-earnings email announcement had an open rate of over 53%, an increase from the roughly 30% average open rate it had in the four emails prior. The organization also said that more than 30 new protests were added to its Action Network page within about 24 hours of the earnings release. During the same period, it said its follower count on Bluesky rose by 10% to 15%, compared to its typical weekly growth on social media of less than 5%. The group, which has organized hundreds of protests in the last few months against Elon Musk's DOGE efforts, also said in a press release that "the movement to hold Musk accountable for attacks" on public services will move beyond Tesla. "Tesla Takedown has already started laying the groundwork to expand Tesla Takedown efforts to target other Musk businesses including SpaceX, Starlink, X and xAI," the organization said in the statement. Other similar protest movements against Musk show little sign of slowing down. Just a day after Tesla's earnings release, climate activists staged a demonstration at a San Francisco dealership, which ultimately led to arrests. Protesters accused the company of "greenwashing" and called for Elon Musk's removal as CEO. A representative for Tesla did not respond to a request for comment. Tesla EVs, charging stations targeted by possible arson in Italy and France

Authorities in Italy and France are investigating possible arson that targeted Tesla electric vehicles and superchargers over the past few days. Italian police said more than a dozen Tesla electric vehicles were destroyed by a fire at a dealership on the outskirts of Rome early Monday, the Associated Press reported. A reporter counted 16 burned cars. Tesla Italy told the AP it was cooperating with police and that it had turned over surveillance video from the vehicles themselves. The cars' internal video operates even when they are not running. Meanwhile, a police source in the town of St-Chamond in the Loire department of central France told AFP that 12 Tesla electric superchargers were targeted in an arson attack in the parking lot of a supermarket last week. Two of the superchargers, which are worth tens of thousands of dollars, were completely destroyed, AFP reported. The words "Anti-Tesla campaign born to burn" were painted in white on the ground. The police source told AFP that it was "the first act targeting the business of billionaire American Elon Musk" in the Loire. No arrests have been made. Tesla has been the target of protests around the world amid owner Musk's affiliation with the Trump administration and his backing of European far-right parties. Earlier this month, dozens of Tesla vehicles were torched in the southern French city of Toulouse. In the U.S., there has been a spate of violent attacks on Tesla properties that Attorney General Pam Bondi described as being "nothing short of domestic terrorism." She vowed to "impose severe consequences on those involved in these attacks, including those operating behind the scenes to coordinate and fund these crimes." Since January, incidents targeting Tesla EVs have occurred in at least nine states, according to a joint intelligence bulletin issued by the Department of Homeland Security and FBI and obtained by CBS News earlier this month. "These incidents have involved arson, gunfire, and vandalism, including graffiti expressing grievances against those the perpetrators perceive to be racists, fascists, or political opponents," the bulletin reads. On Saturday, hundreds of protesters gathered outside Tesla dealerships across the U.S. and in some European cities. It was the first attempt to surround all of Tesla's 277 showrooms and service centers in the U.S., in an effort to further a recent decline in sales at the company. European sales of Tesla vehicles tumbled 49% in the first two months of the year even as overall sales of EVs grew, the AP reported. Musk on Sunday acknowledged that his work at the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, is hurting Tesla's stock price, calling it "a very expensive job." Musk's role at DOGE has sparked protests from people who are opposed to DOGE's activities, including gaining access to sensitive data for millions of Americans and shuttering entire agencies as the billionaire seeks to slash government spending. About one-third of Musk's estimated $330 billion fortune consists of the stock he holds in the electric vehicle company that he continues to run while also working alongside President Trump. After Mr. Trump was elected in November, Tesla rose to a record high on Dec. 17 of $479 per share, but the stock has has since tumbled 48%.
