Democrats begin to embrace Musk amid Trump spat after party railed against him as a 'dictator'

Democrats are moving to embrace former Department of Government Efficiency leader Elon Musk as he publicly spats with President Donald Trump, despite many party voters and lawmakers railing against Musk for months as a "fascist" or "dictator" for taking a hatchet to the federal government's overspending and fraud within the Trump administration. "If Biden had a big supporter criticize him, Trump would have hugged him the next day," Democrat California Rep. Ro Khanna posted to X on Thursday of Musk's criticisms of the "big, beautiful bill." "When we refused to meet with @RobertKennedyJr, Trump embraced him & won. We can be the party of sanctimonious lectures, or the party of FDR that knows how to win & build a progressive majority." Khanna told Politico on Wednesday that Democrats should "ultimately be trying to convince [Musk] that the Democratic Party has more of the values that he agrees with." White House Stands By Tax Bill After Musk Calls It A 'Disgusting Abomination' "A commitment to science funding, a commitment to clean technology, a commitment to seeing international students like him," he added. Democrat New York Rep. Ritchie Torres told the outlet on Wednesday, "I'm a believer in redemption, and he is telling the truth about the legislation." Read On The Fox News App Torres said Musk has "done an enormous amount of damage" and "there are Democrats who see his decimation of the federal workforce and the federal government as an unforgivable sin." "Couldn't agree with Elon more: kill the bill," Jon Favreau, who served as former director of speech writing for former President Barack Obama, posted to X in response to Musk calling on lawmakers to "kill" the legislation. Jonathan Turley Warns Democrats 'Shredding' Their Own Beliefs With 'Dangerous' Anti-musk Campaign Musk is in the midst of publicly trading barbs with Trump over the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which is sweeping legislation currently making its way through Congress and aims to fund the president's agenda. "I'm sorry, but I just can't stand it anymore," Musk posted to X on Tuesday. "This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it." In addition to Democrats who don't support the bill, Musk has also found himself aligned with members of the House Freedom Caucus, which is considered the most conservative voting bloc within the lower chamber, as well as staunch fiscal conservatives in the Senate, such as Republicans Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Wisconsin Sen. Ron. Johnson, who have publicly rebuked the legislation. Some Democrats posting messages favorable of Musk's comments on the "big, beautiful bill" come after many left-wing voters and lawmakers, as well as federal employees, slammed Musk for months as an unelected billionaire who was helping shape White House policy. Many also took issue with Musk on inauguration day for delivering what dozens of media outlets described as a "Nazi-style salute" to Trump supporters. "If you're cool and want to defend the 'Sieg Heils' and the Nazi salutes … whatever you want to do, that's on you," Democrat New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Coretz said in January following the gesture. "I'm on the opposite side of that. I'm not with the Nazis." "I never imagined we would see the day when what appears to be a Heil Hitler salute would be made behind the Presidential seal," New York Rep. Jerry Nadler tweeted in January. "This abhorrent gesture has no place in our society and belongs in the darkest chapters of human history. I urge all of my colleagues to unite in condemning this hateful gesture for what it is: antisemitism." "He's incompetent. He's a thief. He's a Nazi. And people don't trust him," former Democrat New York Rep. Jamaal Bowman said of Musk in March. "He's a Nazi nepo baby who breaks everything he touches," Massachusetts Democrat Rep. Ayanna Pressley said in February as Musk announced cuts to the federal government via DOGE. "And right now he's locked himself in a room with grandpa's Social Security check." Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey referred to Musk as a "dictator" at an anti-DOGE rally in February. Tesla Hypocrisy: Dems Continue Investing In Elon Musk Company Despite Painting Him As Villain Fiscal conservatives in Congress have spoken out against the One Big Beautiful Bill Act as one that will increase the U.S. debt ceiling by trillions, including Senate Republicans bucking support for the legislation after its passage in the House last month. "I want the tax cuts to be permanent. But at the same time, I don't want to raise the debt ceiling $5 trillion," Paul told CBS' "Face the Nation" on Sunday. "The GOP will own the debt once they vote for this." Trump has admonished the criticism from fiscally conservative Republicans, arguing that Paul, for example, was on the verge of siding with the "Radical Left Democrats" and encouraging a 68% tax hike on Americans if he voted against the legislation. Musk, since stepping down from his DOGE role in May after his 130 predetermined days as a special government employee ended, ramped up his criticism of the bill on Wednesday, including encouraging lawmakers to "kill the bill." On Thursday, Trump directly addressed Musk's comments, saying in an Oval Office meeting with the chancellor of Germany that he was "disappointed" by Musk's attacks on the legislation and said he was unsure how their friendly relationship would fare through the criticisms. Trump added that Musk's disapproval of the bill was allegedly tied to its cuts to electrical vehicle mandates. Musk is the CEO of electric vehicle company Tesla. Musk Says Trump Would Have Lost 2024 Election Without Him As 'Big, Beautiful Bill' Feud Continues "I'm very disappointed because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here, better than you people. He knew everything about it. He had no problem with it," Trump said Thursday. "All of a sudden, he had a problem. And he only developed the problem when he found out that we're going to have to cut the EV mandate." "Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will anymore," Trump added. The pair later launched attacks on one another on social media. "Elon was "wearing thin," I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!" Trump posted to X on Thursday. "Such an obvious lie. So sad," Musk responded on article source: Democrats begin to embrace Musk amid Trump spat after party railed against him as a 'dictator'

Kent State student's violent anti-Trump art display spurs outrage

A Kent State University student art exhibit featuring a violent image of President Donald Trump was taken down last Thursday after it spurred outrage. The exhibit depicted the president's head on a stake with blood pouring down his face. Alongside it read the message, "We only have to get lucky once." According to the campus newspaper The Kent Stater, the depiction was part of a student's senior thesis project. Other government officials were similarly displayed with their heads on stakes, the report said. A painting of The Last Supper with Trump and his allies was also reportedly featured in the student project. New Bombshell Study Reveals 'Assassination Culture' Spreading On The Left Under President Trump The exhibit, which was prominently displayed in front of a window of Kent State's Center for the Visual Arts last week, caused a social media frenzy after photos of it were shared online. Read On The Fox News App Kent State President Todd Diacon released a statement on April 19 addressing the controversy. "In recent days, considerable social media attention has been paid to a display of student art produced in a class within our Bachelor of Fine Arts program. The work depicted violence toward elected officials and in no way reflected the point of view of Kent State," the president said. Diacon explained that after the university learned of the project on Wednesday evening, it put up a barrier to limit access to only those who wanted to see the image. The student then voluntarily took the project down last Thursday. Violent Attacks From Anti-musk, Anti-trump Protesters Plague Nation, Compel Gop Lawmakers To Take Precautions Diacon said the art exhibit led to strong reactions on both sides, including threats of violence. He lamented how the controversy had played out on social media and defended the university for responding in a timely manner. "Depictions of political violence are especially problematic for Kent State. We know from our history what happens when polarized viewpoints intersect with violence. We have addressed what took place this past week. We regret that some purveyors of information on social media chose not to update their coverage when the art was voluntarily removed and thus contributed to a confused account of what took place," he said. "To reiterate: The artwork was removed voluntarily and quickly." Diacon also affirmed the university's commitment to upholding freedom of speech under the First Amendment. He thanked the student artist for taking down the exhibit "given the sensitivities of the history of violence on our campus." Kent State was the site of an infamous 1970 massacre during an anti-war rally. A Kent State spokesperson referred Fox News Digital to Diacon's public statement. WATCH: Two people reportedly tasered by police at Marjorie Taylor Green town hall, 3 arrested

Police forcibly escorted at least six people out of a town hall being held by GOP Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Tuesday night and were forced to deploy a taser against two of the individuals. Reporters on the ground at the event in Georgia indicated there were at least six protesters escorted from the town hall within minutes of it starting. Three of the individuals were eventually charged by police for their involvement in the disruption, including one for disorderly conduct, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. "Put your hands behind your back!" a police officer can be heard in a video of the incident shared on social media by CBS News reporter Jared Eggleston. "F--- off –" the man can be heard yelling as he disappeared off-screen behind a wall, before a loud bang could be heard followed by the sound of a taser. Violent Attacks From Anti-musk, Anti-trump Protesters Plague Nation, Compel Gop Lawmakers To Take Precautions A second bang from another taser going off could be heard shortly thereafter. Different videos from the event show a handful of others being escorted out, with some leaving on their own volition and others having to be literally dragged out by police. Read On The Fox News App "Free Garcia," one protester could be heard saying as they were exiting in a video posted to X, referring to Kilmar Ábrego García, who has been at the center of a deportation controversy after a federal judge said the Trump administration wrongly deported him with a group of Venezuelan gang members. "Free Kilmar!" another could be heard screaming repeatedly on video as they were escorted out. Pro-life Journalist Assaulted On Street Assigns Blame To Democratic Rhetoric At moments, as police escorted the protesters out of the town hall, Green engaged with the disruptors. "The protest is outside. Thank you very much," Greene said. "If you were to sit and listen, you're welcome to listen. Everyone across the aisle – Democrats, Independents," she added while someone was being escorted out. "I'm glad they got thrown out," Greene said following the event. "That's exactly what I wanted to see happen … This isn't a political rally or a protest. I held a town hall tonight. You know who was out of line? The protesters." The disruption at Greene's rally follows increased volatility at local GOP town halls. Things have gotten tense enough that the chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee, Rep. Richard Hudson, R-N.C., has told his fellow Republicans to temporarily refrain from holding in-person town hall events. Citing the uptick in "Democrat threats of violence," GOP Wyoming Rep. Harriet Hageman followed Hudson's advice and moved all of her in-person town halls online. The move came after an incident in which an attendee of one of her in-person events followed Hageman as she left and initiated a physical confrontation with her staff, eventually requiring police to intervene. Green was only one of a handful of GOP members that decided to do an in-person event amid the current ongoing legislative recess, according to NBC article source: WATCH: Two people reportedly tasered by police at Marjorie Taylor Green town hall, 3 arrested

Top financial officials sound alarm on 'unconscionable' economic impact of DOGE protest violence: letter

FIRST ON FOX: A group of more than two dozen financial officers from across the United States has sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi warning how the "domestic terrorism" attacks carried out against Tesla dealerships in recent weeks "have led to significant financial losses affecting millions of Americans." "These attacks are not just politically charged, they undermine the financial well-being of the public servants who dedicate their lives to the betterment of our society and affect the long-term financial growth of our state pension systems and other state treasury investments," the letter to Bondi, signed by 26 state financial officers nationwide, explains. "Many state investment funds, including public pensions that hold the retirement savings of our public school teachers, first responders, and police officers, are invested in Tesla for good reason. As of December 31, 2024, Tesla employs over 125,000 workers, and, before these incidents began in late January 2025, was valued at roughly $1.3 trillion and trading at over $400 per share," the letter continued. "Since these attacks started, Tesla's stock has plummeted. It is unconscionable that the financial well-being of our public school teachers and police officers, and all beneficiaries of our state treasury funds – to say nothing of those whose personal property has been vandalized – has become collateral damage of rage politics and violent actions." What began as protests against Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have escalated into violent incidents against the Trump ally's company, including shots fired at a building, destroyed dealership windows and charging stations set on fire. Tesla Takedown: Anti-musk Protesters Mobilize For Global Day Of Protest At Hundreds Of Tesla Locations The rise in incidents has caused the FBI to launch a task force to crack down on Tesla crime, and the Justice Department to announce charges against arson suspects, with Bondi labeling the attacks "domestic terrorism." Read On The Fox News App The letter commends the actions the administration has taken, including "swift" action by the FBI and says it is "our responsibility to call out radical elements of society that seek to use violence as a form of political and economic persuasion." "The despicable attacks being carried out on Tesla vehicles across the nation are driven by radical political hatred and must not be tolerated. Not only are the attacks a threat to innocent people's physical safety – they have also caused considerable financial harm, not just for Tesla owners or the company itself, but for millions of everyday Americans whose pension funds are invested with Tesla," Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity told Fox News Digital in a statement. Pam Bondi Issues New Warning To Far-left Democrat Over 'Dangerous' Rhetoric Toward Elon Musk, Ted Cruz "As a result, the retirement savings of schoolteachers, police officers, and other public servants are at serious risk. My co-signers and I thank the Justice Department for their swift and decisive action against the perpetrators and call on other elected officials to condemn this violence for exactly what it is: domestic terrorism meant to intimidate and destabilize society." Prominent Democrats have been slow to condemn the violence at Tesla dealerships, including over a dozen Democrats who have previously warned about the dangers of domestic terrorism in the past. As the violence across the country continues, Elon Musk and other top Republicans have been increasingly calling out the protests and violence as being motivated by far-left groups and organizations. "The anti-Tesla attacks are dangerous, selfish, and completely indefensible," O.J. Oleka, CEO of the State Financial Officers Foundation, told Fox News Digital. "The radicals behind these crimes are dead wrong if they think they are victimless or merely symbolic. Those engaging in this domestic terrorism are putting human life at risk while also robbing hardworking Americans of their financial peace, especially those who depend on public pensions. No teacher or police officer or first responder should have to see their retirement savings suffer because hate-fueled violence was allowed to go on, or worse, shamefully encouraged by certain attention-hungry politicians. As this letter makes clear, our financial officers will support every necessary action to protect Americans, their property, and their financial future." Disabled Tesla owner targeted in vandalism, says anti-Musk protesters are just 'hurting families'

Reports of vandalism and violence against Tesla owners continue to rise, with more victims coming forward to share their experiences with vandals lashing out in apparent anger at the company's CEO, Elon Musk. Abigail Gill, a Tesla owner from Wichita, Kansas, was out to dinner when a man repeatedly walked past her table, wearing distinctive pajama bottoms. When she and her family returned to their car, they found deep scratches all over it. Footage captured by the vehicle showed the suspect keying the Tesla. "It's a super saddening and disappointing thing to see," Gill, who uses a wheelchair and relies on the Tesla for mobility, said on "Fox & Friends" Wednesday. Owner Of Vandalized Tesla Saddened That 'Regular People' Have Been Dragged Into Anti-musk Attacks She was quoted about $7,000 for repairs, but community members have offered to cover the costs. However, Gill insists there's only one person who should be paying. "It's such a great thing to see people come together, especially in times like this where you know innocent people are getting their cars damaged," she said. Read On The Fox News App "But I just think that the only person who needs to pay a single dime is the guy who thought it was OK to do this." Recent Tesla protests and vandalism have escalated in response to Musk's involvement with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which has cut millions in federal programs and federal worker jobs. Incidents have ranged from keying and graffiti to arson and even drive-by shootings. On Monday, the FBI announced the launch of a task force to investigate violence against Tesla owners. Josh Hazel, another Tesla owner, experienced this firsthand while driving his Cybertruck in a Mardi Gras parade earlier this month. Dems Who Railed Against Domestic Terrorism Silent As Trump Floats 20-Year Jail Sentence For Tesla Vandals "Amanda, my wife, was in the passenger seat, and initially we had the windows down because it's a parade," Hazel said on "The Ingraham Angle" Tuesday. He described how people hit the vehicle and hurled profanities at them. One man threw a thick, heavy bead necklace, striking his wife in the head and cracking the trim between the windows. But Hazel says he won't be trading in his Cybertruck. "I mean they are just incredible vehicles and I highly recommend them, and especially in a situation like that," he said. Both Hazel and Gill have filed police reports, and authorities have made three arrests related to Tesla-related violence, all tied to Molotov cocktail attacks on vehicles. FBI Director Kash Patel announced on X that the attacks are being treated as "domestic terrorism." "Those responsible will be pursued, caught, and brought to justice," Patel wrote on Monday. However, some lawmakers have criticized the move. Rep. Daniel Goldman, D-N.Y., suggested the task force is a politically motivated favor for Musk. "Trump uses his official authority to defend his benefactor Elon Musk. The FBI then creates a task force to use our law enforcement to 'crack down' on adversaries of Musk's," Goldman tweeted Tuesday. For Tesla owners like Gill and Hazel, however, the issue isn't about politics, it's about safety. "'[The vandals] are not hurting Elon [Musk] at all. It's just hurting the families that are getting such valuable things damaged," Gill article source: Disabled Tesla owner targeted in vandalism, says anti-Musk protesters are just 'hurting families'
