Bengal Madhyamik results: Medicine, engineering & research; top rankers share future goals, study habits
West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) (Madhyamik) 2025 results declared on Friday reveal a notable trend: despite Kolkata's prominence, most top-ranking students (ranks 1-10) hail from district schools, showcasing rural Bengal's performance. These high achievers attribute their success to dedication, teacher support, and effective time management. And their career aspirations vary, with many aiming for science-related fields like medicine, engineering, and research. The top performers in the West Bengal Madhyamik 2025 share insights into their study habits and future aspirations, showcasing diverse paths to success. Adrit Sarkar, from Raiganj in the Uttar Dinajpur district emerged as the state topper securing 99.43 per cent and Anubhav Biswas and Soumya Pal, both secured the second position, achieving 99.14 per cent. Anubhav Biswas of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Vidyamandir, in the Malda district, who scored 694 out of 700, expressed his surprise, stating, 'I couldn't believe my rank. I had studied hard but didn't expect such a rank.' While he enjoys singing, playing tabla, and painting, credits his parents and teachers for their unwavering support and aims to pursue engineering or research. Soumya Pal from Bankura Bishnupur High School, also securing 694 marks, said, 'I was expecting a good result but was not expecting rank 2.' His favourite subjects are Physics and Mathematics and he is interested in pursuing his career in engineering or research. He also enjoys singing, playing tabla, and painting. Bagging the third position in the state is Ishani Chakraborty of Kotulpur Saroj Basini Balika Vidyalaya, Bankura, who was also the top-performers among the female students this year. Aspiring to a career in science and research, she said, 'I planned in advance, I chose topics and subjects and would decide tentative timings. Only after completion of the topic, I would get up.' 'I wasn't expecting a rank within 1-10,' said Supratik Manna, from Kanthi Model School, who secured the fourth rank. His interest lies in hardware and computers, and he shared his focused approach to learning: 'I would study most of the time and whenever I got bored I would read articles related to hardware, computer etc. I had one private tutor in each subject.' Meanwhile, several students secured the sixth rank with 690 marks. Ankan Mondal, from Taki Ramakrishna Mission, is driven by a noble ambition. Hailing from a village with limited medical facilities, he said, 'I want to fulfill my father's dream of becoming a doctor. Because, there is no good doctor in our village. So, I want to become a doctor and serve the poor people of the village.' 'I didn't study according to any specific schedule. I studied whenever I wanted. However, to get good results, it is very important to study the syllabus thoroughly,' said Ankan. 'We are happy and want him to be whatever he wants. He studied on his own, without relying on private tuition. We just stood by him,' said his mother Asima Patra Mandal. Avradeep Mondal, of Sonarpur Sarada Vidyapith, another student who secured the sixth position, dreams of becoming a doctor. He balanced his studies with his love for chess and singing. 'I am very happy with the result. There was no specific study time during the day. However, I tried to study for at least 12 hours a day for a few months before the exams,' Avradeep said, acknowledging the support of his parents, teachers, and friends. Avantika Rai, who secured the eighth rank credits her mother's guidance for her success. Rai, who did not take tuitions in some subjects said, 'I never thought I will hold rank. I just studied because I love studying. I never studied more than 10 hours. My expectation was that I will score well but didn't think about the rank.' Anish Das from Prafullanagar Vidya Mandir in Habra secured the ninth position with 687 marks and envisions a future in engineering, dedicated to serving the state. Prajjwal Das, another student who stood ninth, is described by his mother, Mitali Das, as self-motivated. 'We never had to guide him. He always studied on his own. But sports are his favorite,' she shared. As he mentioned about his flexible study schedule and passion for cricket and drawing, Prajjwal said, 'I had no time limit for my studies. I used to study whenever I wanted to. Apart from that, I love and play cricket regularly.' Prajjwal's father, Pradyut Kumar Das, said, 'The boy has been talented since childhood. Not only us, but also the neighbours were optimistic that he would do well. Prajjwal has a dream of studying in IIT.'

WBBSE Madhyamik Class 10 Toppers 2025: Adrita Sarkar tops with 99.43% marks
The president of the Ad-hoc committee, West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has announced the result for the WBBSE class 10 exams 2025 today, May 2. The results were announced today via a press conference at 9am. The direct link to access the results has been activated at 9:45am at the official website. The overall pass percentage for WBBSE results 2025 is recorded at 86.56%. This year, boys have outshone girls by obtaining a pass percentage of 89.19%. Meanwhile, girls have obtained a pass percentage of 84.31%. The WBBSE Madhyamik exams were conducted from February 10 to 22, 2025 for 9,13,883 students. Adrita Sarkar emerges as the WBBSE Madhyamik topper 2025 This year, the topper for WBBSE Madhyamik exams is Adrita Sarkar from Raigunj Coronation High School, with an impressive score of 696 marks out of 700 and a percentage of 99.43%. As many as 66 candidates are in the top 10 performers list this year.
