T'gana mental health institute: 1 dead, 70 complain of vomiting, diarrhoea

Other samples collected from the water distribution network were sent for analysis and the reports are awaited, the collector added. As the samples of food consumed by the patients on Monday was not available, the stool and vomit analysis of the patients was being done to ascertain if any food poisoning occurred. The cause of the problem would be known after reports are received, the district collector said, adding that an alternative water source has been arranged. Meanwhile, state Health Minister C Damodar Rajanarasimha enquired with officials about the matter and gave necessary directions, official sources said. Crackdown on centres performing gender determination tests
Hyderabad District Collector Anudeep Durishetty has issued a stern warning that strict legal action will be taken against ultrasound scanning centres found conducting illegal gender determination tests. Addressing officials during a review meeting of the District Appropriate Authority Committee under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, the Collector highlighted the need for strict adherence to the law. The Collector also directed officials to intensify surveillance, instructing the formation of 15 teams to monitor the operations of scanning centres across the district. He advocated for more frequent decoy operations to catch violators and stressed the importance of documenting every pregnant woman's scan and submitting the data online on the same day. 'Only qualified doctors must conduct scans using approved equipment, and any changes in staffing, records, or machinery should be immediately reported to the District Medical and Health Officer,' he said. Violations will result in criminal cases and hefty fines, he said. Recent inspections have already led to action. An unauthorised scanning machine was seized from New Life Hospital in Secunderabad, and a case was registeredt. Similarly, Vivek Hospital in Saidabad was fined ₹2 lakh for operating two unregistered machines. In total, 26 centres were fined ₹50,000 each for various rule violations, with the warning that repeat offences would lead to registration cancellations, said a release. To strengthen public involvement, citizens have been urged to report any violations or suspicions related to gender determination through the toll-free number 1800-599-3366.

Speaking of his UPSC CSE(Main) marksheet 2017, IAS Anudeep Durishetty obtained 155 marks in Essay (Paper-I), 123 marks in General Studies-I (Paper-II), 123 marks in General Studies-II (Paper-III), 136 marks in General Studies-IV (Paper-IV), 95 marks in General Studies-IV (Paper-V). Overall, he scored 1126 marks in the UPSC CSE(Main) Examination, 2017.

UPSC preliminary concluded smoothly in Hyderabad
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) civil services preliminary examination 2025 concluded smoothly here on Sunday. For a total of 43,676 registered candidates, the number of candidates who attended both paper 1 General Studies and paper 2 CSAT was 25,787. The number of candidates that remained absent for the first session from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. itself was 40% (or 17,644 candidates). Hyderabad District Collector Anudeep Durishetty visited examination centres set up at University College of Science at Saifabad, the centre for 123 visually impaired candidates, and the Government Women's College at Begumpet, and took stock of the arrangements, attendance and adherence to exam rules and conduct. Mr. Durishetty, earlier in the day, also inspected the strong room for storage of exam-related material set up at Basheerbagh, and oversaw the distribution. 'Difficult paper' According to UPSC exam trainers and observers, the preliminary question paper was understood to have been set as difficult. As per a breakdown, the maximum share of 16 questions each was from the history of India and the Indian National Movement and Indian polity and governance. There were 15 questions on economic and social development. About a dozen questions each were from Indian and world geography, environmental ecology and current affairs, said V. Hyderabad begins survey to combat encroachment of govt land; revenue officials to map each parcel
Hyderabad: A comprehensive survey of govt land is being undertaken by the Hyderabad district administration with the aim to protect it as well to use the details to fix responsibility on revenue officials. The exercise involves revenue authorities taking photographs of about 1,138 land parcels, covering 400 acres of govt open land, and uploading them along with the geo-coordinates on a dedicated govt website. "Earlier, if there was any encroachment, there was a chance that tehsildars or other revenue staff would say the encroachment happened earlier. Now, they cannot escape their responsibility. If they fail to protect the land, they will be held responsible and liable for any action," a senior district official said. The district administration has roped in the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to prepare a special software to put the land details, along with geo-coordinates and maps, on the website.. "We will be completing the survey of govt land parcels in Hyderabad district soon. This will enable us to understand the status of land and protect them in future," Hyderabad collector Anudeep Durishetty told TOI. Official sources said the revenue teams, including tehsildars, surveyors, and revenue inspectors have been asked to visit each land parcel in their jurisdiction and check/fix the boundaries. Apart from Shaikpet, there are 130 land parcesl in Golconda, 127 in Asifnagar and 113 in Khairtabad. The lowest number of land parcels is in Ameerpet (22). Officials said this exercise would allow the govt to know the exact status of land. There is a huge demand for govt land, and many departments have been asking the administration to allot it for construction of offices or for other public purposes such as sub-stations or parks.
